My mom's best friend is an 80 year old lady she lives near. Us three were smoking a joint on my mom's balcony once and she asked me what my favorite movie was. I asked her what hers was and she said, "Kill Bill. I love the fight scene at the end and it also got me into anime, which I'm grateful for. One Piece fucking rules. Bleach is also really good, but you've got to skip the filler seasons or just read the manga." That was the verbatim quote. Out-millenialed by a geriatric. I freaking love that lady. I hope she lives forever.

The "son number one" bit 7:08 is an homage to the beloved fictional detective character Charlie Chan, who featured in a series of novels and films. Also, what happened to O-Ren at the end of the fight was not scalping...that is just removing the scalp skin from the skull. What happened to her is called a cranial avulsion...the traumatic severing of the top part of her skull with maybe even a little bit of her brain inside.👍

Watch for Michael Parks (RIP), who played the sheriff with the many sunglasses, also give a superb performance of a totally different character in Kill Bill Volume 2. You almost certainly will not even recognize him.

Technically it’s one movie split into two. It’s not wrong to call them swords. That’s what they are. A specific type, but still swords. The Bride’s yellow and black jumpsuit is taken from a Bruce Lee outfit from his technically unfinished film Game of Death. Tarantino has said that this and some of his other works are extra violent and fantastical because they’re movies made within his movie universe, which is already extra violent.

In reality: Because Tarantino like to reference/pay homage to other movies... this one in particular (if my memory serves me correctly), the original Gone in 60 Seconds. He took that shot, including the glasses on the dashboard are from a similar shot in Gone in 60 Seconds

This film shows Tarantino so effortlessly and brilliantly in command of his technique that he reminds me of a virtuoso violinist racing through "Flight of the Bumblebee" or maybe an accordion prodigy setting a speed record for "Lady of Spain" I mean that as a sincere compliment. The movie is not about anything at all except the skill and humor of its making. His story is like a distillation of the universe of martial arts movies, elevated to a trancelike mastery of the material. Tarantino is in his twilight zone, his story engine is revenge. And it's kind of brilliant. ⚔💥🩸

From what I heard the black and white fight between the protagonist and the crazy 88 was done that way due to the excess gore and would of been refused classification otherwise.

Kill Bill was originally supposed to be one film with an intermission separating the two halves of the story, which would've run up to around 4 hours. It was the decision of Harvey Weinstein, who was a producer on these films, that the film was to be split in half and released as two separate 2-hour films. I think Tarantino has since released both films as a single release, and even included some of the stuff he was forced to cut out to allow the film to get away with an R rating

Now I have heard of an after school snack, but I have never heard of a bowl of cereal. However I must admit I didn't catch it first time viewing either and given how often I normal catch things like that, I am kind of disappointed that it took watching 5 reaction videos to the movie before the question even came to mind.

7:19 Nothing new about naming a child by a number: Romans did it way back more than 2000 years ago. For boys, the names Primus, Secundus, Tertius, Quintus, Sextus, Septimus and Octavius are literally 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 (I don't about 4th). For girls, typical names were based on the family name followed by "the Eldest", "the Youngest" etc.

`Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2 were intended to be 1 movie, It was so long he divided it into 2 films. Part 1 is mostly Action and Part 2 is Action and backstory.. The movie features 2 Martial Arts Legends, Gordon Liu (Johnny Mo, Leader of the Crazy 88's) and Sonny Chiba (Star of many classoc Samurai Sword movies). And yes Tarantino has a foot fetish.
