In the scene with Uma driving fast in the jeep through the jungle she actually lost control and crashed in to a tree. She injured her back and supposedly still suffers from it to this day. Tarantino says having her drive the jeep is one of his biggest regrets.

I bet covering up for Weinstein is up there too
@jollyquinn430 Жыл бұрын
@ColinPoole Did he say that? Well, he made her drive the car. Even after the stunt team said it's not safe. And Uma didn't want to do it. She wanted her stunt double to drive. But since the stunt double wasn't on set that day, QT made her drive. And apparently after she crashed, his first reaction was: "Is the car alright?" It's the reason what cracked their bond. Plus he withhold the footage of the crash's aftermath when Uma needed it for the Weinstein case (It showed Weinstein's inappropriate behavior.) He only gave it to her when he had no other choice. And suddenly it's his biggest regret? I guess the aftermath is what made it his biggest regret.

I liked the scene with Elle's explaining of the traits of the Black Mamba snake and her reasoning for killing Bud in such an underhanded fashion. It shows how even though she hated Beatrix, she both admires her and hates herself for not being as good as Beatrix. She was able to train with Pai Mai, earning his respect, while Elle barely got through training and ended up losing an eye. She didn't even kill Pai Mai face to face as a warrior, and just poisoned him; that was dishonorable. Beatrix is everything Elle isn't, and Elle has been trying to become and/or replace Beatrix, by hooking up with Bill, killing Bud with a "Black Mamba" which Beatrix is codenamed after, and trying to take her sword which she didn't earn.

Rock salt shells are commonly used against dogs when they chase people's chickens or to run off trespassers. Rock salt is used to make home made ice cream, so it's cheap and common. They'll pry the shell open and replace the bird shot with either rock salt or rice. It stings and burns, but won't do permanent damage (unless you get hit in the eye).

6:30 The beautiful factor of shotgun shells is that a lot of people used to cut them open, pour out the contents, and refill it with whatever they could think of. (Also known as a felony these days, tampering with ammo, etc)..One of the best results was supposedly Rock Salt. Hard enough to sometimes puncture light material as well as skin. You've heard the term "Salt in the wound"...Well in this case the salt IS the wound. Hence why she's writhing in pain on the ground. I've mostly heard of this being used by railroad workers sitting on the back of trains, popping rock salt shells at the kids that would play around near the tracks, cause that's just a lawsuit waiting to happen. I LOVE this movie. This is the one out of the two I come back to the most. This one gets deeper and deeper the more you watch it. Budd is by far the most fascinating character in both movies. He's the only one who approves of what Beatrix is doing, or at least sees it from her perspective, doesn't give a shit about power or codes of honor, doesn't want to kill her, really doesn't want to even hurt her, actually gives her an out by not frisking her like he probably knows he should and gives her a flashlight to stand a chance, and yet is the one person who could have killed her with ease if he had wanted to. My theory (others have it too) is that Budd is the one who regretted his part in hurting her. I think he liked and respected her as a person and besides Bill was the only one he could actually tolerate. You can tell by the way he speaks to Elle that he hates her and is holding back how much he hates her yet is reasonable and even sorrowful talking to Beatrix. Even when he say "This is for breaking my brother's heart." It's like he's trying to find an excuse for doing what he's doing that both of them can agree on. His being poor and being around awful coked out strippers whose literal shit he has to clean up is his self imposed form of punishment. That's one theory anyway. But there's so many layers and connections you can make the more you watch this.

The two movies are an incredible love letter to western, samurai and martial arts film. The two former share a close thematic bond, you can tell this was closest to Quentin's heart. Senor Esteban Vihaio is the scariest and creepiest person in this series. He controls a powerful gang in Mexico, who would be inherently loyal to him as they are the children of the women that he controls. Thus probably growing up around him a lot, much like Bill. He is also shown and speaks of his own casual cruelty, his tone is almost coy speaking of it. I think QT's favorite part is getting to cast actors he loves and may have grown up with.

I remember the first time I saw this movie. I was really young and I walked in on my family watching it because I couldn't sleep, and saw the eye pluck scene. My stepfather was some 40ish years old when he told me he was too young to see that stuff too. It stuck with me and I ended up watching all of Tarantino's movies when I got my own place. Kinda funny how that came around. Guess these movies are a tiny slice of my childhood, and it's really good to see other people enjoying them too. :')

I usually watch your reviews for your comments, but this time, having seen this movie so often, I rarely looked at it and kept enjoying your reactions. You really had a blast watching the 2 movies and your rating at the end did not surprise me one bit. If you liked the extra tid bit after the end credits may I suggest you watch a classic from the 80's called "Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I am sure you would love it and discover yet another great director. And if you do watch and review it, make sure to watch the credits until the end.

Also when i was in film school, we had a project to recreate a scene shot for shot, i did the scene in whiplash when the folder gets lost, but at least 6 people in my class did the 5 pressure point heart explosion scene and it was wild haha

6:35 That's pretty much a thing for farmers: It's less deadly but the salt increases the pain, hence they use it to not kill someone but leave them in aching pain for a while since it's salt down your flesh.

17:30 this shot uma thurman got badly injured as the car had an issue and she lost control and crashed badly leaving her with a permanent damage , she stated while speaking of harvey weinstein's assault on her as a secondary statement because of what she had to endure in the making of this especially this car crash later on after she made the statement quentin tarantino answered that it was not only the biggest regret of his professional career but of his entire life! check it out it's mind boggling how tough Emma is to endure all she has in her career in hollywood i admire her massively she is a true warrior. Thank you for this lovely reaction.

That one theme that shows her when she's pissed off was the theme song for an old TV show called Ironside and it was written by Quincy Jones.

I didn't comment on the first video...but I am so happy you did these back to back. I love these...of course, I love QT's movies period! All I got to say is my favorite part of these films is that with two actors, Quentin shows how much he LOVES actors. With Michael Parks and Gordon Liu, each actor played two roles in the films. Michael Parks (with his IRL son) was the Texas Ranger in part one and Esteban Vihaio in part two. Gordon Liu was Johnny Mo in part one, and Pai Mei in part two. Both actors are among Quentin's favorite character actors, and he uses them in different roles in essentially the same film because he trusts in the talent of those he hires and directs. It says a lot about him as a director. Thanks for the GREAT REACTIONS...they just keep getting better!!!

Fun fact about the actress that played Ellie Driver (The Eye patch woman). She and Uma HATED each other, like separate places on set needed to be separated from each other until the scene wear they fight one another...I have a feeling they were channeling all the anger and resentment they had into that performance

Thank you so much for the uploads but mostly I'm glad that you got to see these two great films. Personally, this is my favorite of Tarantino's works. The attention to detail is just incredible, paying homage to so many different pictures in the kung fu genre. Even a nod to Charlie Brown. And what an incredible soundtrack. Check it out when you have a chance. Excellent everything about this film. Script, editing, cinematography, etc. So much to say. Where does one begin? Even the lead-in at the beginning was the actual lead-in that many theaters showed just before their feature presentations back in the late 60's and early 70's. (Always had that terrible sound.) By the way, the switch to black and white was done to avoid an NC-17 rating due to gore. But even that switch was perfect. So glad you enjoyed them. Just a lot of fun. For what it's worth, my wife and I waited until the second picture was released before we watch them. We wanted to see them back-to-back and didn't want to wait a year in between. Great editing on your video. Thank you again.

I love both these films and it's great seeing someone enjoying them both so much too. Adds to my enjoyment. You're right about the homage to so many classic genres, and that he uses music so well, and even leaves off music at certain times. And the framing of so many shots is fantastic. I think this is probably my favourite of Tarantino' s films (I treat them as one, like you!) Thanks for a fun late evening.

A bit of trivia about the fight scene with the Crazy 88 in the restaurant in Vol. 1: Uma Thurman's stunt double was Zoe Bell, who appears on screen as a character in 3 of Tarantino's later films: 'Deathproof' (you need to do that one too), 'Django Unchained' and 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. My favorite part of both Kill Bill films was the 'Cruel Tutelage' of Pai Mei.

Bill was a "snake sharmer" and his assassins code names where all snakes. Elle Driver - California Mountain Snake. O-Ren Ishii - Cottonmouth. Vernita Green - Copperhead. Budd - Sidewinder. Beatrix Kiddo - You know ;* Oh yes ... Kill Bill is one of my favorite movies. *"Applause"* There is so much emotions in this movie and they all make sence in the middle of all this caos. Bravo
