"not gonna lie, the crow's kinda yummy" lmfaooo, i had a crush on him as a kid, but i didn't realize just how fanservicey he actually is until i watched the movie literally last week, as a 20 year old. he's naked in his first scene, his neckline nearly reaches his navel and he calls maleficent "mistress" the entire movie (which is because she's technically sort of a queen, but still).

Maleficent was bound to regret her curse because the curse itself says Aurora would be "loved by all who meet her" and Maleficent met Aurora. Additionally, the curse says "no power on earth can change it," which is why Maleficent couldn't take the curse back.

Actually, the thing you thought Stefan did to Maleficent is what they were trying to point out through symbolism. How he took her wings forcefully against her will, which I think is a powerful metaphor

Angeline Jolie was the perfect cast for Maleficent she brought the role to life. I am glad they gave her more of a backstory because the animated film aside from being not invited didnt seem like a good reason to curse a child, this film gave us a wickedly good reason to be so petty. Granted we are talking fairies and well just look at how petty Tinker Bell can get. Oh and MID you need to read your Scottish, Irish, German, and all the old fairy tales. Fairies are not always peaceful you have your light fae/fairies and dark fae/fairies. And fairies and elves same thing, in fact pretty much all the creatures in the Moors are fairies but different species. Diaval becoming a dragon was easily my favorite moment, wished it was Maleficent like in the animation, but we still got a dragon. And yes to the sequel! It isnt super great but its got Catwoman versus Lara Croft in it.

Not so fun fact: they removed it from Disney Plus because Stephan cutting off her wings with iron chains is a metaphor for rape, u know, with the way she woke up and broke down once she realized what was stolen from her (her wings) & they thought that was too dark for a kid's movie. .... but they have death scenes of beloved characters for kids of all ages to watch.... Anyway, in case u were wondering, that's why it's not on Disney Plus, but the sequel is. I love your commentary reactions, they're always so fun to watch. 💜💎!!

Honestly, seeing the scene of 5-year old Aurora falling off the cliff makes me wonder how short of a movie this would have been if Maleficent just let her die there and the 3 Pixies get blamed for it and executed. She's actually a dark Fae. So, technically, yes, she's a fairy. And fae are often michevious. So, peaceful? Not always. Changelings, for instance, are also fae.

I didn’t like this movie when I was younger I think I was like 5 years old when this movie came out. And I think this movie is really interesting. And did you know that the actress that plays little Aurora Is played by Angelina’s daughter in real life.😇 My dad would make so many references to the original sleeping beauty movie. I love how petty Maleficent is after being assaulted, although I kind of wish that her wings hadn't returned to her. That kind of implies that once the person who assaulted you is punished for their crime, that you're healed. But that kind of trauma never fully goes away. Even if they had her slowly grow her wings back, that would have been better in my opinion.

I don't know why this movie gets so much hate; it's like some people think both versions of the story can't exist at the same time. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite of the "old" animated classics, and I adore this movie as well. I LOVE this take on the story, and Angelina Jolie was BORN to play Maleficent.
