*Unpopular opinion:* This film works so much better if you treat it like a reimagining (like Maleficent), instead of trying to force it into being a prequel. Cruella's character is too different; she's not the villain (in the end she does the right thing, and no puppies die), and the dognapping even happens in the film. It honestly seems like she hit a low throughout the movie but by the end she's recovered and grown into a better person. Forcing it to be a prequel erases the entire point of the film, of her grappling with her identity after discovering her mother's narcissism and coming to an equilibrium by both accepting it in herself and controlling it in order to keep her adoptive family. With this in mind I absolutely love this film! It's one of the best Disney has made in years. Edit: Also Horace and Jasper are the biggest dog people in cinema in this version. They literally spend the entire time film adopting and kissing dogs. Get out of here trying to convince me they'd ever kill one when they almost abandoned Cruella over organizing an illegal concert.

i see it like this. the original sleeping beauty and 101 dalmations are the propaganda against maleficent and cruella but the movies we got recently for both are the true story of what happened to them. we learned in Mal 2 that the princes mother made the story about maleficent being pure evil to add to the already made fear/hatred from auroras father and here we see the baroness start the fire against cruella that is fanned by john i think the name was at the end who begins working on the cruella song pushing her to be seen as an evil person.
@carlycchapman2 жыл бұрын
@@LionWithAGun That's Roger at the end, and you have Anita in this movie as well who was the journalist for 'Tattletale,' and friends with Estella/Cruella in school. Literally, the end credits scene where Cruella sends Pongo to Roger and Perdita to Anita sets up a sequel to this.

Bro, Cruella is my second favorite Disney live-action movie. It's amazing how they managed to make an origin movie interesting, creative, with so many iconic scenes, well directed, visually beautiful and well acted! I have a lot of positives about it and I'm very much looking forward to the sequel that should happen in the next few years.

Dame Queen Emma Thompson is an icon, a legend and she is the moment. Hopefully, this is the gateway to watching more of her work. I’m hinting mainly at ‘Sense and Sensibility’ (1995) or the ‘Nanny McPhee’ Series.
@n.q11582 жыл бұрын
I agree, Emma Thompson might be my favourite actress of all time, I can confidently say that I have watched movies for the sole reason that she's in it xD I'm constantly impressed with her range if roles, I was so excited to see her as a villain here, and she did not disappoint! 1995's S&S is my favourite Austen adaption right along with the 2005 P&P, also because Emma did not only play my favourite character Elinor but also wrote the screenplay. I would LOVE to see more movie reaction channels dive a little bit into her work as none of them seen to be particularly familiar with her esp compared to other great actresses of her time. Another few of my favourites would be 'Saving Mr Banks' (esp recommended when you're familiar with Mary Poppins) and 'Late Night'.

I like to think this is an alternate universe. In 101 Dalmatians she is a crazy old smoking dalamtion killer, but in this one in the end she still cares about her friends, and she liked the Dalmatians after. Plus she knows the people she gave the puppies too! So yeah that's why I think of it like that

Sometimes I find it weird that bae is a thing. I know it a shorter version of baby. But in my language (danish) we have 3 exstra letters: æ, ø and å. But in the old days they used to write them a bit different than they do now. Æ was ae, ø was oe and å was aa. So in my language bae=bæ and if you translate bæ in danish to english it literally mean poop. Just for some “fun fact” of the day

I super love this film. I think my only issue is the continuity with Anita and the lawyer at the end, especially with the lawyer playing that song. I get the movie should end on the classic, but him playing it just ruins the canon. He didn’t write that song until AFTER Cruella went to jail for dognapping 101 dalmatians. (Well, he at least had the tune throughout the film.) And him and Anita receiving those pups basically spells out Pongo and Perdita are siblings, which shows Disney is not afraid to tell us dogs can have incest but we (Americans) can’t. I don’t know the legal terms for incest for the rest of the world.
