4:40 - Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt. He was an American politician, statesman, soldier, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. Fun Fact: He was the inspiration for a toy maker who made the Teddy Bear. 🧸 Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub for sport. The person saw a comic of this, and made a stuffed bear named after Teddy Roosevelt. My Fun Fact: He's Epileptic. 💜🎗

"Are there actually museums that look like this?" The museum in this film is heavily inspired by the real American Museum of Natural History in New York City. This was the museum used in the exterior shots of the film. While not exactly the same, AMNH, like the museum in this film, is also known for its dinosaur skeletons and dioramas, and, until 2022, had a bronze statue of Teddy Roosevelt in front, since Roosevelt's father was one of the museum founders and Teddy himself was a devoted naturalist (I will not relate the reasons for the relocation here, other than that it had little to do with Teddy himself and was approved by his descendants). EDIT: In 2012, a new memorial was also added inside, showing Teddy sitting in the museum. So there is still a Theodore Roosevelt at AMNH :)

yeah the museum of natural history is my favorite museum (as a museum enthusiast lol)! I could literally be there for hours admiring the dinosaur and ocean exhibits. If anyone hasn't gone there and is from NYC I strongly encourage you to check it out. And yes the museum is technically free BUT only for New York, New Jersey, and Conneticut residents. Actually its "pay-what-you-wish" (donation). And they probably get more money from some of the exhibits. Theres these certain exhibits which are extra money besides the ticket to the museum. I went to the space one where its this big theater where all the walls are screens so it feels like you're wherever the film is. Kind of like a Universal or Disney attraction tbh. It shows you space and stuff about the big bang theory. It's actually super cool and it's about half an hour long so it's definitely worth experiencing it at least once.

4:41 - Teddy Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States! He was a badass, so I thought I'd throw out some fun Teddy Roosevelt facts: 1. The teddy bear was named after him. He loved to hunt and once on a hunting trip, his guides instructed him to shoot a bear that was tied to a tree. He refused. The incident was talked about in a news column and the press ended up making a cartoon about it. A local shopkeeper began selling stuffed bears he called "Teddy Bears" with Roosevelt's permission. 2. He was the first president to win a Nobel Peace Prize 3. He loved boxing and ended up going blind in one eye after a boxing match IN THE WHITE HOUSE. He quit boxing after that but just switched to jiu-jitsu instead 4. He was a real cowboy. Like badass clint eastwood type cowboy This has been: Fun Teddy Facts of the day, I hope everyone reading enjoyed

Museums are one of the few things the US does well. The American Museum of Natural History in New York City is certainly one of the best, but there are a _lot_ of good museums around the country. The Smithsonian Museums in Washington DC are also well worth visiting (being a space geek, the Air and Space Museum is the one I remember the most). Since I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I visited the Bay Area Discovery Museum (notable as the future location of Starfleet Academy), the Lawrence Hall of Science, and the Exploratorium the most, though my dad also took us to a few others, including the Monterey Bay Aquarium (notable for being a filming location for Star Trek IV). On school trips I also visited the Asian Art Museum, Legion of Honor (bleh), the California Academy of Sciences, the de Young Museum (don't remember this one so well), and the Bay Model (a massive scale model of the bay and surrounding watershed, used to simulate the effects of dams, breakwaters, canals, and other such water-based infrastructure. before computers had the capability to do this). Regarding key copying. You don't even need to get an impression of a key, a picture of the key is more than enough. And, yeah, in Dutch, there is no "th" sound, so Gervais pronounces it correctly.

To answer the mummy wrapping. In dry places like Egypt, bodies became dehydrated before fully decaying, so you would be 'mummified' to some extent anyway. Not to mention the shifting sands meant that dug graves often got exposed. So in a situation where dead human bodies hang around fot a long time becoming exposed occasionally, it's predictable that they would invent formal mummification in tombs. They would remove some organs from the mummy that would have caused most of the rot if they stayed, and place them in canopic jars, and then they wrapped the mummy in perfumed anointed fabrics for additional preservation as well as to protect their dignity after death (it's not that nice to have your rotted appearance exposed to others). Not just pharaohs got mummified, even the lowest people were, because it was just their bruial practice. This then became a cultural-religious thing where it is considered important to preserve all the parts of the body in order to reach the afterlife.

Capuchin monkeys are incredibly intelligent. So intelligent that humans are only able to train them when they are babies- thereafter, they rebel intentionally as they recognize that you are controlling them and that they are capable of defining their own decisions. Every capuchin you see in TV is a child. Often people got them as pets only to have raw chaos when they hit puberty, with the males especially. So the movie or pet capuchins often have to go to a captive zoo afterwards. They used a capuchin monkey to represent Able, the first primate in space, in the second movie, even though Able was a rhesus monkey.
