​@@demo2823 When this movie was released I was very afraid that it would have a lot of offensive stereotypes about Brazilian culture, but I was gladly wrong. They paid a lot of respect to our culture and made Rio look amazing, beautiful, they showed some bad sides but nothing offensive.

@@demo2823 well to be fair, there are a lot of foreigners living in the u.s. it's possible someone (or multiple someones) from south america worked at blue sky studios, or they consulted someone who lived/lives there.

This movie was actually trying to raise awareness. The specific Macaw that Blue is (blue spix), IS a critically endangered species. They were completely extinct in the wild for about 20+ years, but in June of 2022, 8 were introduced to the wild and after that they continued to try and release more. But I think there are still less than 200 as a total population between wild and captivity

The saddest part of it all is that the movie actually had the opposite effect of what it intended to. Instead of educating themselves on Blue Macaws, people started to view them as toys and started buying them as a trend until they realized they’re a responsibility like every other animal.

It’s a shame that this is the only-non Ice Age film from Blue Sky to get a sequel, which really just shows how much the Ice Age franchise was the studio’s main reputation and milked to death.

This was a actually slight advertising for the awarness of Spix Macaw extinction. And it worked. A flock was returned to Brazil in early 2020. And there are approximately 200 alive in captivity.

As a Brazilian, trust me when I say this, if you can find this movie in Brazilian Portuguese, watch it. It's a crime that they made Garota de Ipanema (Girl from Ipanema) in English instead of Portuguese

Rio was actually made by Blue Sky Studios and released in 2011. While Disney bought Blue Sky in 2019 as part of their acquisition of 21st Century Fox (so they do own the rights to it), I personally wouldn't really call it a Disney movie. Especially since Disney shut the studio down shortly after acquiring it.

At the same time as Blue Sky was making this film, Disney was prepping concepts for a similar style movie (by pure coincidence) about extremely endangered salamanders. They decided to scrap this movie once they heard about Blue Sky's film because they were literally the exact same premise but with different animals.

OMG SEB! I am brazilian, from Rio and I love your channel! I grew up watching this movie and I love it so much. I had never watched this movie in english before, honestly... For us Brazilians (and anyone who speaks portuguese in general) the brazilian dub version is so special bc the characters who are from Rio have a "Carioca" accent that is so beautiful. "Festa em Ipanema, meu amor"

The Amazon birds are amazing. Food is so plentiful and predators so scarce that all their evolutionary energy was invested into looking striking and coming up with wild courtship dances. As a native Minnesotan (Minnesnowtan to be more accurate) the seemingly over exaggeration of snow here in the state isn’t actually untrue. Lowest temp recorded in Minnesota was -60°F. And the city where I lived last winter was called Duluth, right on the tip of Lake Superior saw a record breaking 140.1 inches of snow over the course of our winter season (which is 6 months long btw) Being from Minnesota makes me love this movie even more. But the fear of sunburn keeps me from Rio at all times, no amount of “ayooooo” moments will convince me otherwise 😂

I highly recommend watching Spies in Disguise. Another great movie featuring birds with fantastic humor, banger cast and music that slaps. A super underrated film that I've rarely seen anyone react to so definitely would love to see your reaction to it!

Well i think you should come to Rio Seb, i dont know if you're a party guy, but Carnaval (yeah its called Carnaval here) the city gets pretty pack with foreing people from all over the world! One whole week of party everywhere you go. This movie did a really god jog capturing the vibe of Rio in that time of the year! Often people that live here go to other cities trying to avoid the fabulous caos!

There is a Rio 2! But it was actually Blue Sky Studios who made Rio. They were owned by Fox, and when Disney bought Fox they killed Blue Sky, so that's probably it for Rio.
