They were hands down probably the most perfect cast of all time 💀💀 they all looked and acted exactly like the characters and they did it so well that no other show or movie besides the cartoon has any chance to compare.

A lot of them voiced the different anime series as well, shaggy in multiple anime’s is voiced by Matthew Lillard, both scooby doo and Fred are voiced by Freddie Prince Junior

@@x.mono.x4011No, not them. They were so good that they MARRIED after the movies. They are Freddie and Daphne, even the actors name is Freddie. And Daphne is Sarah Michelle Gellar for god's sake, she's amazing (and had acted in other horror movies like Scream 2, also Freddie was on "I Know What You Did Last Summer"). They were all perfect and thought out.

Someone once made a comment that these two movies were released backwards, and ever since I've had to agree. If you watch this movie first the story is so much more compelling - the first film would be a best-of villains from the original cartoons all returning for revenge, then the second film would be the team dealing with the fall-out from success and reuniting to solve a mystery. I wish there was a third in this short-lived franchise - the casting was brilliant.

This is so smart. At the time of this film's release, The WB's 'What's New Scooby-Doo!' & the films within that series universe were in full swing. It makes sense for Scooby & the Mystery, Inc. gang to be stars as they returned to their town of Coolsville (as seen in the beginning of 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed').

it also makes sense that their fashion changed so much and Fred's especially I had to double check because it looked like the flashback fit in the "previous movie" white shirt with colorful collar and jeans is much more retro style Scooby Doo Fred than what he looked like in the years later

Fun little personal story about this one: I actually saw this one in the theater when it came out, and the day I saw it before I left for the theater, I had just watched the Pup Named Scooby-Doo episode with Chickenstein. So it was a fun moment for me when I the costume popped up.

Monster's Unleashed was my favourite back in the day, the first one always freaked me out when I was younger (I think it was the whole soul stealing/body stealing thing, looking back as an adult I find the monster's more comical now), so I always preferred this one, not to mention being a lot closer to the cartoon, with all the classic monsters. Can't recall how many times I went through all the bonus features, even the secret 'case of the missing pants' easter egg on the DVD

my thoughts exactly, even to this day I still have some trouble watching the people acting like monsters part of the 1st movie, whereas this one feels somewhat lighter (in a good way), and more connected to the source material through these classic monsters, while doing a good job balancing them looking/acting (mostly) intimidating without making them scary in the unsettling way the body possession did; though I do (somewhat) recall being genuinely intimidated/low-key-child-level horrified by the Pterodactyl Ghost teasing at the start the first time I saw this in cinemas, especially that silhouette against the moon shot, just a great sequence to tease and draw us in

I watched both of the Scooby Doo movies in theatres as a kid and I was kinda a nerd about the subject. I definitely enjoyed Monsters Unleashed so much more and still do. The humor was so much better and I knew the cast from other shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also watched the original 60s show on Saturday morning cartoons, so it was awesome seeing all the original villains. Also, what's kinda cool is that after these movies came out Matthew Lillard became the official new voice of Shaggy in the animated stuff. Also, the actors for Daphne and Fred are married in real life, and it was like those characters were in essence actually married too. It was the perfect mix of everything I knew and loved about Scooby Doo. There was a plan to make this a trilogy but the second movie didn't do well enough to greenlight the last one, so I'm glad that the movie didn't end on a cliffhanger. The monsters being real concept didn't scare me that much, even as a kid, because I had seen the animated movies like Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island (both of those are awesome btw if you ever want to react to them). The only scene that truly scared me in this movie was when the tar monster started to choke everybody, but I was so happy to see Scooby get his moment to shine.
