A surprise attack in outer space forces the Enterprise to crash-land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall (Idris Elba), a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that's aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew must now battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off their hostile planet.

43:42 this is is a callback from the first movie. Young Kirk was listening to it during the car chase. That’s why Kirk says that it’s a good song. 53:24 I love the way they paid tribute to the actors that passed away. The way they had a third glass when they were drinking Chekov’s alcohol and how Kirk put it into his toast about absent friends. I think I like the end better with all the actors reading a line instead of one person doing it.

This franchise was specifically designed around TOS not TNG. Besides Leonard Nimoy as Spock who died just before this movie was filmed which is why they do the tributes to him in this movie, all the other original cast members were consulted and Chekov and Uhura's original actors also visited the movie set. A double tragedy since Anton Yeltsin also died in a freak accident before the movie was released.

I heard about Anton Yelchin death, those SUVs had a recall order cause of malfunctioning brakes. if people stand in front of the vehicle it would start moving on it’s own, I was super emotional when it came to that Alpha Dog Movie scene.

56:04 Mark! "Remember the Titans" is another movie that I haven't seen since it was new in movie theaters! For 7th Grade, I was a student at a school where all of the sports teams were "Titans"! I was better prepared than my local nerdy friends who have only ever been "Panthers" for it to be a high school sports movie and not a sequel to "Clash of the Titans"! But they didn't walk out as seeing cheerleaders kept their interest! 😉

Don't care what the haters say, I loved Enterprise. It was raw and cowboy like TOS and really needed to happen after the previous three. Also really love ST Strange New Worlds. Got to pay up for the second season, the first was top notch.

But the overlooked one would be the subtle crossovers that place "The Star Trek Universe" in with both "DC" and "Marvel" as part of overwhelming, overall crossover phenomenon known as "The Tommy Westphall Universe"! In it, you can trace the crossover connections from "Bewitched!" to "Star Trek" and beyond! (Pun intended!) 🤪😜🤯 PS: Oh yeah! Then there's the "Old Canon of the Original Versions" and now the "New Canon of the Digitally Remastered Versions" for those series that underwent the upgrades! "Canon" I know to be a brand name trademark for a manufacturer of "Canon" cameras! But just because that is so, doesn't mean that I spelled "cannon" wrong! You're spelling "canon" wrong! 😂😅😁

Star Trek Enterprise was my second favorite series. I liked watching them adopt new rules, guidelines and gadgets as they began to understand the galaxy. They built the foundations of Starfleet and it’s principles. I was upset when they got canceled. Voyager was my favorite series. It dealt with mostly new species and scenarios. Both series had beautiful and talented actresses I had crushes on. 🥰

That first episode! The First Starship Enterprises first mission out of the solar system. Trips me out so much time takes place between First Contact and the first time the Enterprise goes on a mission. I guess the ship had to be built and the warp drive had to be made better.

Out of the JJ movies, this is the closest one to a classic Trek movie, even references past things like the Xindi, which is a story arc you'd first see in Star Trek Enterprise.

The pods that the bridge crew escape on are called Kelvin pods. The U.S.S. Kelvin was the ship that Kirk's father died on. The Kelvin pods were created so that what happened to Kirk's father hopefully wouldn't have to happen again.

The lady with the amazing voice is Shohreh Aghdashloo, she's been in the most amazing sci-fi productions from star trek to mass effect and the absolutely excelent The Expanse. RIP Anton Yelchin, he'll be missed forever

This might be my Thanksgiving movie since there’s not a lot of great ones. Kirk has forgotten how good he has with a great crew and how much he likes leading bc things calm down for an extended time after a couple of crazy adventures. It takes another tragedy for him to realize what he has to appreciate. Loved it.

How many times did Jane cry during Gilmore Girls?? LOL! Jane looks pretty cute in that blouse. I think this is my favorite of the new Star Trek trilogy. To me, this is the most Star Trek of the 3 movies. My only nit-picky complaint is I would've rathered Idris Elba's character remained a real alien throughout and was not a former human captain turned alien. I wonder if or how they will transfer from the Kelvin universe back to the Prime universe or there will just be a cold reboot after the next movie. I honestly quite enjoyed The Marvels and do not really understand why it gets so much hate. Yes, I have my share of complaints (e.g. Fury felt unnecessary, movie was too short & felt rushed at end). But, I still had a lot of fun with it and think the hate it got has more to do with people's perception of what the movie would be rather than what it actually was. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it is among the best MCU movies, but I liked it more than Quantamania & much more than Thor: Love and Thunder.
