3:50 , this movie is actually closer to what the comics really are, Peter dated Gwen first, then he met MJ, Peter dating MJ first isn’t true to the comics, but people think it is because of the Sam Raimi movies.

Good reaction! In a lot of Spider-Man adaptations, they’ll pick & choose what to add or ignore but yeah Gwen & Mary Jane are from the comics. You of course met Gwen in Tobey’s Spider-Man 3 but it was different there. In the comics, Gwen was Peter’s first love before he got together with Mary Jane. The reason MJ was the love interest in the Tobey Maguire movies was because MJ was widely considered to be Peter’s true love and they were married in the comics by that point. You met Curt Connors in the Tobey movies but he wasn’t The Lizard there but you got to see his villainous personality here. Also Peter making his own webbing is canon in every version.

I love all the hype these movies are now getting. My favorite live action of the webhead. I do wish Andrew got his third (and fourth) movie(s) though… Still though, I’m glad people are finally recognizing Andrew’s version of Spider-Man.

Fun fact, the Spiderman from the sam raimi movies is the only spiderman that ever had those organic webs in the comics and in every other show Peter is the one who invents the web shooters and the web fluid, because many people grew up with the that version of spiderman they have that misconception

3:53 Yeah, pretty much, think of it as a whole different universe. There will be similarities, but also differences compared to what you know from the previous films. The same thing happened in the comics as well. During the 2000s when Marvel launched the Ultimate imprint, a whole new continuity running parallel with the Mainline comics. The idea was, “What if the Marvel Universe started in the 2000s instead of the 1960s?” It was a reinvention of the classic mythos, starting with Spider-Man, placing him in a modern-day setting, and retelling his origin story in a more contemporary world. Giving birth to Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000) followed by Ultimate X-Men, The Ultimates, and Ultimate Fantastic Four. In the comics there's Earth-616 (Main Marvel universe) and Earth-1610 (the Ultimate Universe), and they’d cross over now and then. Like, at one point, Mainline Spider-Man from Earth-616 ended up in the Ultimate Universe and met its version of familiar characters. Spider-Man even talked about the differences between their worlds, like how The Avengers are called The Ultimates in this universe. Plus, pointing out that the Ultimate Universe has way fewer heroes since it’s younger and more grounded. Marvel recently introduced a new Ultimate imprint set within a reality altered by The Maker, the evil version of Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe. That universe was destroyed in 2015 during Secret Wars with Miles Morales, and The Maker being the only two survivors. In this new imprint, The Maker travels to a universe that mirrors Earth-616 (Main Marvel Universe) but alters key events to prevent the emergence of heroes. For example, he stops Peter Parker from being bitten by the radioactive spider and prevents the Fantastic Four from launching into space, among other changes. The new Ultimate Spider-Man series follows an adult Peter Parker in his 30s. He’s married to Mary Jane, has two kids, and is given the chance to become a hero by Tony Stark. Stark is trying to undo The Maker’s alterations by bringing heroes into this world. His plan involves sending items (Such as the Spider) back in time by a few months, hoping that by the present day, the world will be filled with heroes ready to fight The Maker. In this story, we see an adult Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man for the first time. Interestingly, Uncle Ben is still alive, but Aunt May has passed away. So it's a really cool spin on what we already know from past comics and connects back to the original Ultimate Universe.

There was meant to be a Spider Man 4, but Raimi dropped out and with story complications they decided it was better to do a fresh start Either alternate universe or dimension are acceptable. Mary Jane was supposed to be introduced in TASM 2, they even cast Shailene Woodly and filmmed scenes, but they got cut to streamline the story to focus on Peter and Gwen Damn it those two are so freakin cute I really like the moment of Flash extending his sympathies to Peter. I’d never seen that before. Curt is called The Lizard 31:45 Spidey has a healing factor. Not as quick as Wolverine’s or Deadpool’s, but definitely faster than normal. Though it can vary between iterations Lizard in the torn up labcoat is actually the classic standard look. But he’s also just been naked The death of George Stacy is also significant event in comics, though Uncle Ben and Gwen’s are definitely way more recognized. The guys who visits Curt is the randomest of deep cut characters I didn’t even know existed. Gustav Fiers aka The Gentleman. He’s apparently responsible for the formation of the second version of the Sinister Six, a collection of Spidey’s rogue’s gallery, which Lizard was a part of. Curt either gets cured or he’s seemingly cured and the lizard side is actually dormant and can come back.

The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable, was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth AVI ARAD on the other hand, just wanted to use the movies to sell toys Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of this movie Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise again Spider-Man was nothing without her

*Dark Knight Trend:* This film was very much a product of the trend that followed The Dark Knight (2008), where superhero movies adopted a more realistic and gritty tone. Man of Steel (2013) is another prime example of this shift. For a street-level hero like Peter Parker, this darker, moodier approach isn’t the biggest leap since there are plenty of dark and gritty Spider-Man stories. However, it’s much more noticeable, and arguably less fitting, when applied to characters like Superman. That said, I think this tone works well for Spider-Man, especially since his origin story in Amazing Fantasy #15 had a similarly moody and grounded vibe. It's more the visuals of the film that follow Dark Knight formula, including the darker and angry looking Spider-Man suit. Meanwhile, Spider-Man (2002) embraced a more traditional comic book feel and tone, staying true to the vibrant and larger-than-life essence of the original stories. *Spider-Man Differences:* There are a few changes in this version compared to the previous movie adaptation. Peter in Amazing Spider-Man (2012) makes his own web-shooters, which is accurate to the comics. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man had organic web-shooters, a leftover idea from James Cameron’s Spider-Man script in the '90s that was never turned into a film. Interestingly, the decision to use organic web-shooters in Raimi’s films was a last-minute change, as they went back and forth during production on whether Peter should have mechanical web-shooters. However, in the comics, and in 99% of adaptations, Peter uses mechanical web-shooters that he invents himself. Another change is the focus on Gwen Stacy instead of Mary Jane Watson. In the comics, Peter doesn’t meet Gwen or MJ until he starts college. Liz Allan and Betty Brant (who works at the Daily Bugle) were his first love interests, with Betty being his first girlfriend. However, having Gwen in this film works really well, since we already came off three films with MJ being the main focus. There's other changes as well, Lizard being Peter first villain, focus on his parents, Uncle Ben dying differently etc. *Spider-Man Similarities:* One thing they both have in common though is that Peter in both Spider-Man (2002) and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) were bitten at 17/18 years of age while in the comics Peter was bitten at just 15. So he spent more time within the High School setting as Spider-Man, unlike his two movie counterparts who were on their final year of High School or close to graduating. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is the only live action version to be have bitten at 15 years of age. His films have a much better depiction of the High School, since everyone looks like High School students and the movies have a much more coming of age, High School feel, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles those kind of vibes. Both Andrew Garfield’s and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men were bitten by genetically augmented spiders, whereas in the original comics, Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider during a radiation experiment at a science exhibition. The idea of augmented spiders actually comes from the Ultimate Universe, beginning with Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000). In that story, Oscorp was attempting to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that created Captain America and tested it on spiders. One of these spiders bit Peter Parker during a field trip to Oscorp, leading to him becoming Spider-Man, a very similar origin to what we see in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). Spider-Man (2002) like I mentioned also used genetically augmented spiders. You could argue that The Amazing Spider-Man is more heavily based on Ultimate Spider-Man, a reality that was more “realistic” and grounded compared to the mainline comics. A re-imagined and modernized take on classic Marvel stories, which is very Amazing Spider-Man (2012).

The wrestling ring is more a reference from the Comic's. Pete wrestling for money and getting stiffed and Uncle Ben dying is straight from Spider-Man's 1st appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962.

Wait till you see the 2nd one because Andrew’s suit is so much better and it defines as spiderman but MJ was supposed to be in it too but her scenes were cut from the final cut. The 2nd one is kinda similar to Tobey’s 3rd film but the visuals on Andrew’s 2nd film is phenomenal.

Andrew & Emma’s chemistry is still my fav couple in Spiderman films it’s just so cute especially with them dating IRL at the time. Andrew to me definitely has that ecstatic energy of being Spiderman down & it being more modern in terms of a darker tone I liked reminds me of certain comics of Spidey in 2011 ish. Peters parents also work for Shield organization in comics , Shield the organization is an amazing tv show you could watch after first Avengers movie

I actually prefer Andrew's take on Spider-Man over Tobey's. And I think Emma as Gwen is better than Kirsten as MJ. I think Spider-Man 2 is the best live action Spider-Man movie but this is in my top 3. Marc Webb (perfect name for a Spider-Man directer), directed one of my favorite movies, (500) Days of Summer.
