As someone who grew up as a "comic book kid" this movie was basically a vindication of my entire childhood. Seeing something I got bullied for and teased about turn into a worldwide phenomenon was the universe's way of saying "yeah, you were cool, people just didn't see it back then." Nowadays I enjoy talking with my non-comic friends about stories and answering their questions about the movies/TV series. Seeing kids dressing up as comic characters for Halloween, or cosplayers designing entire setups is really encouraging. Hearing the crowds going nuts over this movie in the theatre made me feel like I fit in, and it united basically everyone for that brief moment when these movies came out. I love seeing others discover the things I enjoyed so much and becoming new fans.

I am normally fairly bummed out by the average theater experience, but most marvel movies and especially this one make the audience come alive. Even the worse movies (and I honestly like most of them) somehow managed to elicit some laughter - or at least anticipation towards what comes next. I am 100% certain that no scene made people laugh as much as the one where Loki is getting destroyed by the Hulk. Maybe Django's "bye miss laura"-scene, but even then... this movies nails all the jokes. Love AoU too, underrated in comparison, imho.

16:39 yes and no. At this point in the movie, the Helicarrier has a bunch of people running around. The SHIELD Agents on board can be divided into two camps. We have Loki’s squad of scepter-possessed agents (including Clint ofc), and we have the regular SHIELD agents that are just reacting to what’s going on according to their contingency measures. Scepter-possessed people gain blue eyes temporarily, mostly to help the viewer keep track of where Clint and Dr. Erik Selvig are at. As far as I can tell, the pilot who was sent to deal with the Hulk isn’t part of Loki’s squad. He (the pilot) was sent in to either knock Hulk out of the fight or redirect his attention elsewhere. The pilot could’ve opened fire from farther away, granted, but Hulk has super jumping abilities. So that poor dude escaped Hulk’s wrath because things went surprisingly well for him. He was ordered into an unwinnable position, then Hulk tried to kill him using gravity, thereby allowing him to open his parachute and survive.

This is still my favorite MCU movie. There have been bigger films since then, and there have been weirder and arguably more interesting films since then, but nothing compares to the joy of seeing these characters from different films interact for the first time. They do such interesting things with how they all interact, the things they do and say. The film makes you think anything is possible with the movies they're making and the stories they're telling, which is what you want for the end of Phase 1. Some people also argue most MCU movies of the last few years all feel the same. While I don't agree with that entirely, there is some truth to it. There's no other film in the MCU that FEELS like this movie, though.

My sister works downtown and got to see them film several of the parts that were to double for New York, and the German Beer Garden scene in front of the tall building that Loki addresses the crowd to kneel is the Terminal Tower here in Cleveland. There is a bridge near where I live where that they filmed Captain America Winter Soldier, my daughter and I got to watch Cap drive back and forth on his motorcycle for a scene. The Russo Brothers, who you’ll come to know, are from here and shot much of the films here. It’s kinda cool to be part of that Marvel universe in our own little way. Glad you’re enjoying sister!

Just watch his "Firefly" series plus his movie "Serenity" to finish that story and you will see one of his finest works. 14:59 Loki's play: His scepter is causing tempers to rise for everyone around it. Banner is his main target. Some reactors ask how was Hulk so manageable at the end fight. The answer is he wasn't being rage manipulated by Loki.

Let me reinforce your suggestion about Firefly and Serenity. Joss Whedon knows how to develop characters.

Yeah. I think a lot of the current MCU style of movies came from Joss. He's great at giving you something that you don't expect.. you think it's going to be one thing and he changes it. It's like when you thought Indiana Jones was going to fight but then he just shoots the guy.
@sakinah7773 жыл бұрын
Joss Whedon is really good at torturing female characters and making them suffer, and them pretending it's for feminist purposes because it makes them strong. Or simultaneously making a woman "strong" but also illogically stupid. His characterization of Natasha is especially inconsistent -- just wait until you watch Age of Ultron, you'll be scratching your head. Joss Whedon gets a lot more credit than he should, much like George Lucas. Sometimes assholes accidentally create something decent while they're stroking their egos but inevitably manage to ruin it at the exact same time.
@dunringill17473 жыл бұрын
@@sakinah777 FYI: Avengers: Age of Ultron [A:AoU] is a terrible example for you to use to back your claim. Joss Whedon was very unhappy with Disney because they constantly meddled with A:AoU. They continually made changes he was unhappy with and that drove him to quit working for Disney. He wasn't alone feeling this way . Disney has caused many talented writers & directors to quit over "creative differences". This includes the Russo Bros. and their writing team.

To answer your question, when these movies were coming out they did do movie marathons. I went to 3 of them (Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame), and all 3 were all of the movies shown in order up to that point. The most extreme one was when Avengers: Endgame was released, I went to New York City and watched all 22 movies in a row. Only 15-30 minutes in between each movie, generally, with an hour between movies around breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It ended up being around 60 straight hours awake. Luckily it was at a nice theater where you could order an actual good meal, rather than just popcorn and soda. It was the longest and most absurd 3 days of my life, and I would happily do it again.

The movies just get better and better as the MCU continues on. My favorites are the next two captain america films and the 3rd and 4th avengers. But really they’re all great.

They used a few different techniques to pull of the final battle. Most film production crews have multiple units - Main unit is director, principal actors and crew, second unti is basically the fun stuff, the crew that gets to film around the world and photogrpah differnt locations for visual effects reference. 2nd unti went ot New York city, and got thousands of reference photos of New York, and then INdustrial Light & Magic (same visual effects for all the Star Wars films by the way) digitally recreated most of midtown New York in CGI for the final battle sequence. So yeah, technically.....they did go to New York for some stuff, but it was mostly 2nd unit. The main cast did film maybe one scene inthe actual New York: when they had to teleport Loki and Thor back to Asgard. That part was filmed in Central Park at Bethesda Terrace, a very famous location spotfor a lot of films, including the John Wick movies. I've been there twice since I live close to NY and im 2 hours away by train. Bethesda Terrace is one of many beautiful spots in Central Park. And yeah, I know it's a cliche, but I LOVE NEW YORK mostly for being the birthplace of both Marvel and DC Comics!

probably wont see this but you asked about a marathon for the movies and when I watched this in the theater with my Mom and Brother, they had a thing where you went in the morning and started with Iron man 1 and watched all the movies that lead up to this one and then at midnight on the opening night we watched the Avengers. It was epic
