I mean he watched this first. I myself watched this series first, and basically had almost the same experience. Then I watched Arrow due to the fact that they're connected and could have a crossover any time, which I didn't want to miss out should that crossover episode be continued on the other show, and then I had to watch Supergirl because they had a cossover. Nobody expected that they had to watch the other shows for context. Also, it is amazing how he just forgets character names so fast, like has he mentioned anything about having short term memory or something?

without any spoilers, these shows are in their own little universe not life sf or real cities. central city- the flash. star city- the arrow. gotham city- batman. then metropolis- superman/supergirl. they cross over and interact with each other now and then which was always cool to see. so watching the flash we’re seeing his comeup and point of view of the world. arrow is more dark and aggressive loved that show. supergirl was more lighthearted had beautiful moments. these are all cw’s dc universe

Felicity is from Arrow, Barry was introduced on that show before he got powers. Between episode 3 and 4, the flash ran over to appear on Arrow. Felicity saw the two of them together, and figured out Barry is the Flash because she is smart.

so arrow is the tv show that due to popularity started series of DC comics tv shows in intertwined plot story that fan named "arrowerse" this 1st season of flash is canonically happening in same time as arrow season 3. Felicity IS from arrow tv show (which i recommend you watch as well, same idea as flash, very good start and it falls off later on) Watching multiple seasons of flash and then starting arrow from scratch will confuse the hell out of you. There is lot of interchanging plot between series (not a lot but enough to confuse you if you dont keep track), the time line is arrow s1, As2, As3/Flash s1, As4/Fs2 etc... EDIT: if you really like felicity you need to pick up arrow, she is pretty big character in there so you will see plenty of her :D

The Flash is a spin-off series from Arrow, so we first meet Barry in Arrow on the case that is mentioned here. It happened before Barry gets struck by lightning, and thus you see Barry going to Green Arrow in the first episode looking for advice. There will be more cross-over episodes, so you might want to plan to look up some Arrow episodes. It is good in the beginning, with a darker tone. Green Arrow is not a meta, just well trained in survival after surviving on an Island for 5 years. The show features flashbacks in most episodes about what happened on the Island, so there are multiple story lines going.

Yes the flash can a train of people. In the comics (well it is the comics they always do shit that not even movies have the special effects to show the crazy shit these characters can do) an atomic bomb goes off over a town, and as it explodes the flash carrying two or three people at a time evacuates thousands before the blast can reach the town. So in a split second or even faster he had to run thousands of times back and forth (I think he ran like 20-30 miles each way to make sure they were far enough away from the blast) he ran 10's of thousands of miles, if not hundreds of thousands of miles to get everyone out in time. Now that is fucking speed. In the show, he gets faster for every new season. S1 Flash is a snail compared to like season 7.
