This takes place after Vikings. Alfred is a child in Vikings, and we actually see his pilgrimage to Rome, which gets mentioned in this show as well

"this takes place after vikings" this statement scrambles my brain so much as someone that loves and knows alot of history because vikings the tv show doesnt really have a time period they mix so many characters and event from over 200 years. like the first season episode 4 they do the "raid of lindisfarne" which took place in 792 but later events and characters were not around until the late 800/early 900s. Vikings is basicly 90% fantasy

So glad you two hsve decided to jump onto this series. It very much is a blend of Vikings meets Game of Thrones. And Uhtred is a great protagonist. His story and the overall story of this time period is so beautifully written. Not sure how far you're into the series. But i look forward to you meeting Alfred in this series. Uhtred had quite a story, but Alfred is on a whole other level. You will see 🙏 Destiny is all ⚔️

Ain't that the truth, Larissa Zeeuwe on youtube was a big Vikings reactor and she only just started The Last Kingdom recently. She said she thought it would just be a Vikings clone basically. I think that's the main reason why a lot of ppl never gave it a chance or reacted to it. They assumed it was just a Vikings wannabe. Personally I love both shows in different ways. It's good to see more people reacting to TLK. It definitely deserves more love

Fun fact All main viking actors Are danes and norwegians The real tale of ragnar lothbrok says he was a danish King with an army in both Denmark and norway The Only non norwegian actor on the viking side is thred and that make it more intense that the danes actually Are danes and norwegians and the englis actually all Are english and irish

i know im late to the party, so my comments are old and props usless but this is my fav show so i like to share. its historically correct that they would hold u under until the baptism was complete. cos gods will and all. however people died it wasn't very enticing and many years later in the religion they decided to stop and you would get a free robe when baptised which lead to people doing it everytime they wanted or NEEDED to clothes cos that was a whole different level of poor. and they stopped doing that too cos well , that was too expensive haha
