His mother wasnt an illusion in the cell, she just knows how to project her image just like Loki does. Like... she taught him or something. About Odin: I dont think they write him badly this movie. I think we as viewers get to be disillusioned about him just as Thor gets disillusioned. In the first movie Thor is an arrogant child who provokes a war, and Odin is against that and his flaws are not apparent in that situation. In the second movie we see how Odin united the realms, and its not pretty. Hes not the noble king Thor thinks he is.

There is actually a deleted part of that scene that specifically addresses that which I still to this day don't understand why it was cut out. It added a bit of important bit of context both for the end of the scene and for tricking Malekith later on, and it really didn't hamper or drag down a scene that was already being carried rather well by both Russo and Hiddleston.

The infinity stones are each powerful artifacts in their own right and even scarier when combined. Asgard thinks its safer if they aren't all kept in one basket. The Collector likes collecting rare and valuable things, even if he doesn't have a practical use in mind. He'd want the stones just to have them. I'm not saying he absolutely wouldn't use stuff from his collection, just that he'd want a complete set regardless and generally isn't motivated by galactic conquest. Since he collects plot devices as a hobby, he needs to have pretty good security, at least for his most valuable items. That makes him a pretty good choice to keep something out of the wrong (or at least worse) hands. He might be more secure than Asgard's vault, or at least comparable.

Hammer: "The only thing that can make my opinion happen is me watching the damn thing and formulating, alright." That is the best mind set to have and the best way to approach any movie or any other forms of art, because at the end of the day it is all subjective. So, love the MCU films you love and gripe about the ones you don't, and tell anyone who tries to demand you have the same opinion as them to piss off. While I did like this movie, one of the things I enjoyed about this movie the most doesn't actually come from the movie itself, but more the episode of Agents of SHIELD that aired after the movie's release: "You know, for once it'd be nice if, for once, Thor and his people would send down the god of Cleaning Up After Yourself. They probably have a magic broom for it."

Theres 3 movies. Theres the Malekith movie which is fine, the Jane Foster movie which is kind of meh, and the Thor/Loki uneasy alliance movie which is amazing. Generally Thor, Loki, Odin, Freya are great in this one and I really wish this movie had a better reception so we could have seen the Shakespearan Thor vs King Loki showdown they built towards instead of the Ragnarok we got.

@Serryy Yeah I really enjoyed Loki and Thor throughout this. Everything else is either boring or weirdly written. As someone with some serious mommy issues, the scene with Loki and Frigga just DESTROYED me when I watched it. But unfortunately all that interesting character stuff is sandwiched with this dark elf stuff I really don't care about. I enjoyed Ragnarok so I can't complain too much, but I do wish that movie could've been a little different based on this movie being different though.

@@AshRain-nu3vz As someone who disliked Ragnarok, let me put it this way for people who liked the movie: The comedy Ragnarok movie could have happened at any point. For some Marvel lore: there are a small group of individuals who are the last of their race. They dedicate themselves to one, specific, task and this dedication is so strong that it holds off age. The Collector is one such being. His dedication to collecting things is so strong that it has rendered him immortal. He doesn't want the Infinity Stones to use, he wants them so he has a set of Infinity Stones. That's why the Asgardians trust him. He will keep them secure in a private, planet-spanning vault just so he can look at them and think "I have the whole set."

Because in the comics they were ancient (and made immortal through a specific event) that have each chosen a calling to basically keep busy (one is a competitive fighter, one is a competitive runner, one does gardening etc).

I get what you're saying about Odin, but in the mythology, he Is an actually shady guy. True, the comics/movies are separated from the literal myth, and it may have been an accident on the writing team, but the strange change in charger throughout the film is consistent with his TRUE character. Odin is all about gaining EVERYTHING; knowledge ancient artifacts, everything! He's literally called the Allfather. In his search for ultimate knowledge, he lost his eye(in the myth not the film). As a king, it's his job to put on airs for the people and even for his sons. He doesn't bother putting it on for me who are, in his eye, inconsequential. Now that something dear to him(Frigga) is gone, taken from him, he feels that a need to pretend is pointless as everything that mattered to him is lost. Odin is willing to risk everything he HAS, even at the cost of his dignity as a king and a person, as long as it means victory.

I don't know why people don't like this movie. There was a lot of action, high stakes, and Loki taking over the throne at the end. HAMMER TIME! 4:17: 😂 37:50: PLOT TWIST!

HAMMER! I'm pretty much in agreement on your rankings thus far, other than Ironman 3 and Dark World. For me, they're kinda tied for 2nd to last, with Hulk being bottom of the barrel. Both had kinda boring villains, both had a shift from the campy attitude to a darker, grittier drama feel, both had a solid 3rd act that was drug down by the 2nd act. And it's kinda funny how both of these movies are immediately after the first Avengers movie, and both are ranked so low. What I find interesting is that it just seemed to be a thing going on with both DC and Marvel in that period, doing more sombre, dramatic, "we're so serious like all the other cinematic masterpieces" movies, since Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel came out in that same period. In fact, to speak vaguely on it, I think only 2 films of the 6 different "Phase 2" marvel films break away from the dark and gritty style. Frankly, I expect half of the phase 2 movies to end up in the bottom portion of your ranking list, but like you said at the start, "gotta watch it to form your opinion."

Hammer! Britain has the best weather service! It's just that UK weather is the final boss for forecasters. It's not particuarly bad, just a constant 50/50 of will it be meh or bleh.

Hammer. The thing about Marvel that a lot of people haven't quite gotten is the got like absurdly good at this. To the point that their baseline is still a decent movie. Like in terms of movies they haven't made an actual bad movie and its kind of terrifying.

@@KazeAizen _"Eternals is not bad."_ What was one thing good about it? The CGI? _"And probably one of the most interesting things Marvel has done."_ On paper it sounds interesting but everything they changed from the comics was either a bad idea or didn't factor into anything. Any of the Highlander movies have more life and humanity and theater to them and some of those are absolutely _awful._ _"As for MODOK yeah he looks stupid. He's MODOK. Its exactly what is says on the tin."_ No, that's like saying Mr Fantastic, Thing and the Human Torch in the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film is exactly what it says on the tin. Fans will go "No, they would _not_ look like that in real life."

There really aren't any 'bad' MCU movies tbh. Even the least popular ones are fairly well done in comparison to most other comic book movies we've ever gotten.

Hammer The Ether wants to be found. It is being called to by it's master. No wait... that's the One Ring. Nevermind. Carry on. 😆 The Dark Elves are quite advanced technologically. Those are Black Hole grenades. Which opens up a micro singularity drawing all matter nearby into it via gravitic pull. 😮 Tanileer Tivan a.k.a. The Collector is an Elder of the Universe. He's been around a long time. His collection, The Menagerie, contains examples of exotic species as well as powerful and ancient artifacts and antiquities. He is also a relative to another Elder who will be making an appearance soon. 😂

There is a Loki series on Disney+, but I haven't seen it, so I can't comment on its quality one way or another. Edit: Said series was released after fucking with time and dimensions is introduced, so literally anybody could legit die and come back in some form.

I feel so bad for this movie because it got completely screwed over by executive meddling. The Marvel Creative Committee massively rewrote the film in post-production, forcing the creators to make unpopular changes after the film had already been shot. Most significantly, Maliketh originally had an extensive backstory that explained who he was as a character and why he wanted to destroy the Nine Realms, which would have made him feel much less flat as a character, but it was entirely scrapped to make room for more Loki scenes because Loki sold more tickets.
