Something about Josh Harnett has always triggered my fight or flight 😅 He was perfectly cast in this he plays evil so well.

I had heard this movie was garbage, but it was actually fun watch. The trailer gave it away that he was the serial killer, but it was more about his journey than figuring out who the killer was. Josh Hartnet's performance was great! I'm with you though, I was rooting for the Butcher the whole time. Lol I'm gonna need a sequel with a back story. That could be good as long as it doesn't turn out like Glass.

I can see M. Night making some kind of “trilogy” with this idea.

In interviews, Hartnett and Shyamalan said that they were sorry to part with this character. Given the unanimously positive audience reaction to Cooper and the question of a possible sequel at the film's pre-screenings, and the fact that Trap has already earned back its budget in theaters and began to make a profit, it would be the wrong decision not to make a Trap-sequel. It's funny that it's unlikely, but not completely impossible, that Trap itself is part of Shyamalan's superhero universe, given Cooper's light side ability to inspire greater empathy in those around him to achieve his goals. If Trap is part of this universe, then it turns out that the former drug dealer, and later the security guard who worked in the store, had a talented niece growing up ;)

IF they do a trilogy, Part 2 should be "Bait" where they use his kids at bait to try and catch him. Lady Raven and Rachael are now teamed up with the FBI profiler. The kids are his weakness 100%. He does really love his kids. Obsessively. Part 3 should be called "Hunt" where he's hunting down Lady Raven and his wife while the FBI is hunting him until they finally catch him for good. So they've set the TRAP, then put out the BAIT so they can begin the HUNT.

I was hoping the twist in this movie was gonna be that the daughter was actually the killer and this loving protective dad was just covering up her mess or that yes he is an actual serial killer but turns out he's not the killer they're looking for. There's another killer in the building and that's the one they're looking for so now he's done all this stuff to avoid authorities for nothing.

Dude that singer in the movie "Lady Raven" is actually M. Night Shyamalan's daughter in real life. Thats so crazy lol. I liked the first half of the movie very much, the second half left a bit to be desired. 6,5/10.

People still go into M. Night movies expecting Sixth Sense. In reality, his whole career has been pretty mediocre and Trap is above average for an M. Night movie. Hartnett alone already took this movie to a solid watch
@hayden751212 күн бұрын
wholey disagree. M. Night swings so hard so i can see the whole bad-good, discourse, but his movies will ALWAYS be something different and i think thats something we have to appreciate. im a massive defender of his later stuff and i think he really only has 2 "bad" movies per say.
@zigsenpai16 күн бұрын
that's my issue with m night, he just doesn't know how to end his films. he is stuck in the sixth sense paradox forever.

@Str5284915 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't agree. M.Night gradually accustoms his viewers not only to the absence of big twist but also to dramatic revelations in the finale. Using the "show don't tell technique" in Trap, starting with the confrontation between Lady Raven's forgiveness of her father (and "whose who hurt you") and Cooper's impossibility of forgiving his mother, M.Night also encourages viewers to ask some questions at the end of recent his films, in this case: what will happen to the dark side of Cooper's personality when he is deprived of the opportunity to influence his light side, in particular, the love of his daughter. The victory of Lady Raven's character's "idea" of integrity and general kindness (using the reciprocal love and devotion of her fans, she saved Spencer), at this moment won over Cooper's "idea" of "pieceness" (treating different people very differently, in particular differently in extreme way towards his family and his victims). So I would rather say that M.Night has become more demanding of the viewer’s thoughts at the end of the film, and therefore does not make such a direct ending) By the way, I really liked the references in Trap with a funny run to the observation point of Lady Raven’s bus in the style of the boy’s run from the finale of Silence of the Lambs, tattoo of a sheep, as well as references to The Shining: Cooper’s jacket and the color scheme of the toilet)

why do people insist on spoiling them selves by watching all the trailers and teasers. i watched this completely blind and it was such a great experience not knowing he was a killer at first

First of all, I have a problem with you. Revealing that he's a serial killer.Are you supposed to be doing that at the beginning of the movie
@chanceshouseofhorror605316 күн бұрын
Yes lol
@BritneeFuckingStar9 күн бұрын
The movie is about how a serial killer intends to escape an elaborate trap set for him. It's not about figuring out who the killer actually is. You're supposed to already know. The trailer gives it away. And if you didn't see the trailer then that's why you see him checking on his hostage pretty early on. It's not meant to be a secret, it's meant to put you in suspense. Will they catch him or will he get away?

I loved this movie but I will love anything Josh Hartnett is in. I think they could have cut out the whole limo scene at the end and just have it that he escapes through the tunnel and comes back for the mum and it would have flowed better at the end. But Josh Hartnetts performance was brilliant
@Str5284915 күн бұрын
Showing that everyone rushed to take pictures of Lady Raven running out and one side of the limo turned out to be free was enough for me) They left the limo scene to allow Cooper, under extreme circumstances, to voice his idea of "pieceness" versus Lady Raven's "wholeness". And we would then remember "mention of forgiveness" scene about "his mother vs her father" before the song Release and the scene with the inhaler as a “flaw” from Cooper’s point of view in representing of Lady Raven character, to get an overall “picture”. They cut the scene after the limo escape, with the profiler and SWAT in the clothing store, where Cooper takes the hostage (we saw little bits of it in the trailer). I liked that M. Nnight gave a touch of the some mystical to the film, a kind of magical realism and at the same time a reference to the style of films of the late 90s, early 2000s, with the sudden disappearance and appearance of skill characters (see Bourne's disappearance at the beginning of The Bourne Identity (yes, I noticed he was actually ducking behind a moving vehicle but for the world of the film he disappeared)) So if Casey Cook, played by Anya Taylor Joy, had appeared at the end of the film, I would not have been surprised)

Ugh, sorry, man, but I could only get ten minutes into this before I had to bail. Shyamalam’s a hack of a writer and director. He’s a parody of himself at this point.

In fact, this is the best depiction so far of the coexistence of the light side of a loving father and the dark side of a serial killer, including their intertwining.
