The Captain is the unsung hero of this film. He may be a weeble of a human, but he takes his job seriously, looks out for all his people, and he isn't afraid to take on a difficult job if he feels its his responsibility. Even risks his own life and uses cunning to outsmart his enemy.

Agreed. He comes off as a slouch in the beginning, but that's only because a slouch is all he ever needed to be. But when it came time to rise up and take action, he proved that he truly deserved his position.

"why this is so much more romantic than most romantic films?" Easy: Most romantic films don't spend month's hoaning the communication or non-verbal aspects of two main characters. When you put this much effort in character design, it will leave 99% films behind. This is why I love this film. Its truly a masterclass when it comes communication between two main characters who barely have lines.

34:42 that is actually my favorite detail about this entire movie. Once Wall-E gets rebuilt, he loses the shine in his eyes, the "life" of his character, so to speak. It's an amazing touch.

Yes, the emotional eyes have gone, the fact that the faceplat is the same as other Wall E model but this particular Wall E personality is distinguishable.

Fun Fact: The autopilot is the only character in the movie to be voiced by an actual robot. Pixer did that on purpose so the audience would feel unsettled by the autopilot because the human brain subconsciously knows which voices are human and which aren't.

now that you mention it...that actually makes me realize why auto was so unsettling. I think subconsciously I knew. Now that I look at it...with the robots they could still express some sort of emotion in their voices. Wall-e. Mo. Eve. etc. They even had breathing sound effects. Meanwhile...Auto sounds so lifeless. I'm impressed...Pixar REALLY knew how to mess with your subconscious. Too bad they went into the crapper >_>

Legendary sound designer Ben Burtt also created many, if not most, of the famous sound effects for the original Star Wars films, including R2-D2's voice. He did the electronic vocal sounds for the robots in this movie too. A lot of Wall-E's head and expressive eyes were modeled after the sentient robot Johnny 5 from the movie "Short Circuit." You would really like that 80's movie too.

I watched this in 2008, and it was astonishing and remarkable, this is what the sci-fi animation should be, and Pixar just continue live up its greatness. And especially this movie reflects real world problems such as rampant consumerism, corporate greed, environmental neglect and pollution, these may all come true in the future, surely we don't want that.

I never thought "hello dolly" would be so important to mankind. Been a while since i watched a nearly silent movie. So little dialog and so easy to follow. Walle is so frickin cute. Just hanging out and doing his job with his pet. Then SHE came into his life and everything changed. Nice love story. Nice space dance sequence. The robot that went outside the ship to replace the light bulb is BURN E. the DVD has a cute short about his adventure. Glad we got at least one ship of people back to earth. And now we can grow pizza plants. Great job Magy.

I'm a grown up, cynical, stubborn, jaded old man, and I absolutely love WALL-E. This is one of the best pro-environment, pro-exercise, pro-recycle, pro-gardening, and don't step on bugs movies I have ever seen. AVATAR is another great one. I hope you have the DVD because the Bonus Features are hilarious. There is BURN-E, the robot that fixes the broken lights on the ship, and PRESTO the magic bunny, which is one of the funniest, old school cartoons you will ever see. Try not to pee yourself. If you liked the scene where the misfit robots get loose and go nuts, you will love the movie GREMLINS (1984). It's another Steven Spielberg classic for the Christmas season. There is more cuteness and silliness than jump scares, and all filmed at the same Universal lot where 'Back To The Future' and hundreds of others were filmed.

This movie is tailor made for a Magy reaction. Humour, love, emotion. And you handled the emotional moments very well. I was tearing up too. You should definitely react to more animations. Nobody ever reacts to the end sequence of this movie which is one of my favorite parts where they show people slowly bringing back the earth represented by images in many art styles. I guess it's because of the music and the damnable tyranny of copyright.

Pixar did a great job with this one, but the ultimate presentation of emotion with no actual dialogue would be "The Married Life", or what is sometimes referred to as "The First 10 Minutes of Up". The story of the characters of Carl and Ellie in the first 10 minutes or so of that film are more tender and romantic and tragic than the vast majority of films in that genre.

I loved your reaction to this film, and it's in the top three that Pixar has ever done in my humble opinion. You're right about people being able to understand what's going on even if there's nothing said, or very little said. I was deep in Afghanistan and for reasons I won't get into, we had to impress this small village on top of this hill. Everything they were trying didn't seem to be working, so I thought I'd do something they weren't expecting. We "borrowed" the small projector out of the command post and hooked it up to my laptop and showed the movie "Finding Nemo" on the side of one of their structures. We Americans sat down and started watching the film and pretty soon other people wandered up and started watching, then the kids came over and all sat down and started watching. They didn't know what was being said, but they understood the film just fine. We got them to laugh and cry all without doing anything. We achieved our mission thanks to an animated movie and some quick thinking. I'm not proud of a lot in my life, but I am rather happy with that particular moment. By the way, what did you do to your fingers? You have tape on one and a band-aid on the other? Juggling knives for fun these days? I hope you're alright.

There are a bunch of subtle references you might have missed. The two classical pieces, The Blue Danube and Thus Spoke Zarathustra are both references to the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, casting Sigourney Weaver as the voice of the computer is a nod to her roles in classic scifi like Alien and Ghostbusters, and "stay the course" is a George W. Bush reference. I've never been sure its a reference or just a coincidence, but the music at the end credits is by Peter Gabriel, who was the lead singer for...Genesis. (oh, you want to watch more animated movies? One word: Miyazaki.)

I know what it's like to have been forgotten by someone you love... I was Wall-E... I lived with my girlfriend who changed over the years and I was alone. Waiting for the woman I loved to come back. Waiting for her to remember who she was when she loved me.. I could have left at any time.. Given up and gone home.. But I stayed. Every day I would tell her that I loved her. Every day, I looked after her and the house, her car, and the pets. I kept hoping that the good person she was would come back. I would see her from time to time. Peeking though the person she became. She was still in there.... -- She died in my arms of cancer this June.. I'd taken her to the hospital and I was there every day with her.. In the end, I got the "Quantum Leap" ending... -- I spent years holding my own hands like Wall-E and praying that things would change. Sometimes, there are no happy endings. Or redemption. (addendum :. "Quantum Leap" was a TV show from the 90s in which Dr. Beckett would leap from person to person, year to year, and put the wrong things right. The last episode, ends on a black screen with the words, "Dr. Sam Beckett never returned." --- Fans were in an uproar because all those seasons of waiting to see if he gets home, and we felt like we got gypped. --- It's only when you look back at it as an older person that you realize he made the right choice. That the hero's job, is never really done.) -- In my relationship, I felt cheated. That had there been more time, maybe the good person she was would have come back. In the last six months, I lost her, the house, I had to give our pets to the shelter... And now I'm truly alone. Just me and the ghosts. The memories of the happy and the sad. And I will always be haunted by the last image in my head of her laying in a very quiet room turning blue and cold in the dim light.. No matter how long we had, it wasn't long enough. And those last months flew through me like angry birds with razors..

Waaaaaaal-Eeeee! Yes Magy!🤗 My fav CGI of all time and the only one in my top 10 movies ever. Unmissable.💗 That line "I don't want to survive, I want to live!" reminded me of a favorite scene of mine from Solo. Solo being a robot protecting a little village, a conversation between a little village girl and Solo: *Girl: Aren't you hungry?* *Solo: I don't eat.* *Girl: Then how do you live?* *Solo: I don't live, I exist.* An average B movie, but an epic scene.

A very special and charming movie that showcased great CGI animation and storytelling with heart. There are a couple of mini movies you should check out that are happening during the events of the movie. I loved the Peter Gabriel song during the end credits. The red "eye" of OTTO is likely a homage to HAL, the Ship A.I. gone bad, in "2001: A space Odyssey"

I'm not a big fan of most animated films. Especially Pixar and Disney, but sometimes they come out with one that doesn't talk down to their audience. This one is incredible. I also recommend Isle of Dogs.

Wall-e is in my top 3 Pixar movies with Toy Story 3 and Up (they all are so good that the precise order is very dependent on my mood on the moment, just too hard to rank them objectively). If you can find it, I strongly suggest you to watch the short story Burn-e that was in the DVD bonuses. It's hilarious. I'd love to see you react to The Prodigies, The Suicide Shop or Mutafukaz, their all European (or mostly European) animated movies definitely not intended for children (or at least for younger ones) that deserve more visibility. There's also The Red Turtle, but for this one, the pacing may be too slow to render well on a reaction video, but it's a beautiful movie nonetheless.

29:02 When I first watched the movie Babel, there was something wrong with my system and it didn't show subtitles although I thought I had turned them on. In the movie they speak English, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese and Japanese sign language, so there was no way to understand it all without them, but I thought it was a trick, a point for the movie to make, that it would be almost impossible for anyone to understand everything that was said in the whole movie (the point of the Biblical story of Babel being the sundering of languages and people not understanding each other), but that you could still follow it. It was a great experience, because you had to understand half of the story by just interpreting the body-language of the people and when I watched it later with subtitles, I had understood it perfectly well. A lot of details I missed of course, but the main story, the point of it was clear. Big recommend on that movie, by the way, with subtitles or without. 😁

Something to point out: it's been 700 years since the Axiom left Earth. Of course the captain isn't going to know what a book is, everything he's ever known, even his ancestors 500 years ago, is voice-activated holographic screens. Auto and Wall-E will know books, though, since both are over 700 years old. There's no indication that Auto was ever replaced, and we know that Wall-E's model was left on Earth since it was abandoned, so we can assume that he was built before they left.
