First Timers Eat the ENTIRE MENU at Jollibee in New York City

My fiancé is Filipino. He lives in England (but is moving to the USA ), so when I visited him we went to the Jollibee in London!!! Oh my gosh, it was amazing. I really wish it would expand to the midwest!!!!! That fried chicken with that gravy is soooo good!!!!!

The reason why Filipino spaghetti is sweet and has hotdogs is because it's mainly for young children, and often served during birthday parties. It may not be for everyone, but for a lot of Filipinos it's nostalgic.

This is true! Also in the old days it was hard to find tomato ketchup in the country so our elders used Banana Ketchup, which is sweeter, instead. Hotdogs instead of ground pork because it is cheaper too. Until now, I prefer Jollibee's spaghetti over the traditional italian spaghetti.

The roots came from during WWII when importing tomato sauce and ketchup was difficult to acquire due to the war, people figured out to make "ketchup" out of a common crop, bananas, hence 'banana ketchup' was born. It was then used as a substitute for spaghetti sauce and it has persisted to today.

When Jolibee first opened up in Canada there was a tent for the lineup. People literally waited over 8 hours in line! There were lineups for months at the first location. All the Filipino parents had no problem waiting because Jolibee was representative of their childhood. It is so astute of Will (who did not grow up in the Phillippines) to notice that. Thank you for trying everything. I have watched a few Jolibee recipes that did not cover some of the items you did.

Almost ALL of us filipinos prefer to eat it with Rice with the fried chicken.. we usually dont eat it just the chicken alone, since the 90's chicken with rice is the way to eat it.

Jollibee wasn’t expected but glad that you went for it. Trying everything was the smart thing. Now you’ve tasted it all and have a comprehensive opinion. Great that the less popular items (at least to the non Filipino audience) got some time. Pointing out the noodle pork dish has convinced me to try it. l think it would go well with the fried chicken. I’ve had the homemade version of the spaghetti with hotdogs and think a lot of times across all cuisines too much of a good thing (the sauce) can overpower. Maybe you’d agree. Hope the trip to New York treats you both well and thanks for making the effort. Enjoy the weekend!

We've heard they toned down the sweetness of the spaghetti sauce in the US but it's still a little sweet for us. Thanks you too!

We have Banana Ketchup because way back the country did not have the ingredients to create a ketchup made out of tomatoes. It's what makes the spaghetti unique, it's not everyone's cup of tea but it is a part of our history and tradition and maybe even a part of our culture already.

They finally opened one up near me like 20 minutes from my apartment! If it's after 12 pm I order online for pickup and skip the wait. My goto is the 2 piece chickenjoy and spaghetti meal. I'm from L.A. California we have many Jolibee locations in California. Jolibee best fried chicken and easily. Blows away KFC & Popeyes fried chicken. The mango and peach pie also way better than MacDonald Apple pie. I also like pancite pulubo and sweet spaghetti and mini hotdog is pretty cool to add makes it different from Italian spaghetti..
