People see long lines and assume it must be good, forgetting that sometimes a place is popular because of the cheap price, etc. In this case, although, Jollibee is a good fast food place, the long lines are mainly due to Filipinos just wanting to taste a bit of nostalgia and supporting a Filipino brand. People unfamiliar of the brand just assume it’s overhyped because they are disappointed when they find that they still prefer KFC’s chicken, lol.

Word of warning: In my experience, the spice level of the spicy chicken can be wildly inconsistent. The first time I had it it was barely spicy at all. The second time I had it it was like taking bites out of the sun. My face felt like it was on fire after two pieces. Thanks, UA, for the great side-by-side fast food comparison. Always enjoyable to watch your honest reviews. I recently tried Jollibee's Chickenjoy for the first time, and I've had Popeye's chicken many, many times. I got the 6 pc bucket with half regular and the other half spicy. Like you, I much preferred the spicy and will choose that option from now on. For the regular, I think Popeye's is still tastier. Crunch-wise, tenderness, juiciness, and tastiness, they're pretty much toe to toe, imho. My issue with Popeye's, at least with the locations in my area, is that their chicken pieces have gotten smaller and smaller over the years...to the point where I really kind of feel ripped off for the price of their 3 pc meal. The Jollibee's pieces were considerably bigger. Of course, your mileage may vary. I found the peach mango pie to be delicious, and will definitely get that again.

The target market of Jollibee abroad are actually the overseas Filipino worker who misses the taste of Jollibee. Most foreigners liking it too (well, except u), so it's a great thing. Jollibee is not for everyone's tastebuds especially the sweet spaghetti. It is sweet because we're using banana ketchup in it. In Ph history, bananas we're used as substitute for tomatoes when the country 1st manufactured ketchup, since bananas are more abundant than tomatoes that time. I usually eat the chicken & spag simultaneously to balance the sweet & salty side, since i'm not a fan of sweets too.😅 but i swear as Filipino, there will be days we will crave Jollibee, it's like a culture thing. I have not tried their chicken sandwich yet. If you think that spaghetti is not good, wait til you tried some of the Jollibee here. In our local store, the sauce is tasteless. Most of the stores here dont melt their cheese even. I'd eat it but I rather eat an average Filipino spaghetti. Another overhyped item imo is the peach mango pie. I recently had it and was not impressed. It's just hot sweet filling. Too one dimensional for me. A little tartness would've gone a long way. So you are saying that it isn’t fair to compare two chicken sandwiches, because they use different parts of meat? That’s nonsense. It is a fair comparison. They both put their best foot forward, and Popeyes chooses to use white meat (like nearly everyone else), while Jollibees uses dark. It’s fair. Chick-fil-a brines all of their chicken. Does that make it unfair to compare them too? Different restaurants use different kind of potatoes and oil for fries, so does that mean that it isn’t fair to compare? Be real. Popeyes is absolutely overhyped. Their sandwich is good, but absolutely not the best. Their chicken is very good, and typically very consistent. Is it the best? No, but it beats nearly every other place of the time. Tbh, their blackened chicken is actually the best chicken that they have on the menu.

I also don't like the spaghetti that much and I am filipino but the nostalgic feeling whenever I ate it, is the best part

Popeyes chicken is much better than Jollibee's Chicken. I got a very greasy chicken from Jollibee and It was pretty bad. Not sure if they drained the dripping grease and just piled on the chicken and I got the one that was on the bottom or what, but I certainly didn't like all that grease from the chicken.

I travel the tri-state for work everyday, so over time I've decided to become aware of the good food around (mostly pizza shout out Johnny's in Vernon). I mark them on google maps so If I happen to be near them I'll give em a try or a revisit. Jollibee came across my radar probably a year ago, but I haven't been near one yet (well i don't mark them all). Glad to see they are expanding, I'll probably try one soon.. On the chicken note, I'd recommend PDQ although my latest experience at a new location was not as great. Also, not a chain AFIAK, but Peri Peri Chicken in Hicksville skips the fried chicken and goes with a excellently sauced thigh and substitutes a hash brown and some onion for the crunch, probably my favorite chicken sandwich.

Filipino here and I hate Jollibee Spaghetti. Sweet spaghetti is a cultural thing, and I am not a huge fan personally, but I do enjoy it from time to time. Although most Filipino spaghetti recipes call for condensed milk to be added to the tomato sauce to achieve that creamy and sweet flavor, Jollibee spaghetti is probably just straight up ketchup. Which isn't a great representation of Filipino sweet spaghetti.

Lol alam mo ba lasa ng spagetti na ketchup lang tulad ng nasa carenderia or mga naglalako tuwing umaga. Jolli spagetti using meat sauce a bit ketchup and sausage. Hindi staight ketchup. Paro mas masarap pa rin lutong bahay kasi pwedeng di pinoy style spagetti lutuin mo na medyo salty not sweet.😊

Spagetti sauce is suppose to be slightly sweet and mostly savory, If it's as sweet as people are claiming it to be, then it probably would be completely inedible to me. And I'm not a picky eater.

i 100% agree with your review. I hate the spaghetti, like the chicken sandwich, love the Peach Mango pie.. but prefer Popeyes for just the chicken alone.

You should try dipping the chicken in that brown gravy. It’s a game changer.

FYI, the spicy seasoning is actually Habanero chili powder. As for the mayo, it's likely similar to QP mayo but added extra to it. Problem with Popeye's is that u can tell if they used new cooking oil as there's a over burnt flavor in some of their fried chicken so the quality is inconsistent sometimes.

The jollibee spaghetti is really a trademark of having a sweet style sauce b'coz filipinos mostly the kids love sweet style of spaghheti sauce

The reaction to the spaghetti is understandable. Filipino style spaghetti is commonly served in kids' parties. It is traditionally mixed with banana ketchup and sometimes added sugar thus the sweet tones.

The Jolly spaghetti is sweet because it is made just for kids.🇵🇭😊

It's not worth the vibe to begin they don't even have sauce which is very bad. secondly they chicken is not as crispy as popeye's. I give them 5.2 / 10

You have to get the gravy. Gravy and rice. Dip the chicken in the gravy.

Next time get the Jollibee’s first, then go to Popeyes 😮 then rate it again. Then Popeyes won’t be as dry.
