Rusty rails, First Train in 2 weeks & New Locomotive on First Run! America short line railroading at its best! Unusually long grain train with a newly purchased locomotive, SD40-2, on its first run for Cincinnati Eastern Railroad! This is the first Norfolk Southern painted locomotive over these NS owned tracks since they were leased to CCET in 2014 and I got lucky to catch it. We see the rusty rails before and after the train with 3 locomotives passes. Don't miss the awesome scene as the train passes the historic town of Williamsburg, Ohio. This video is a continuation of the video I posted recently of this train climbing the Summit Road hill in Batavia. This video also shows the train passing Mount Orab and Sardinia, Ohio. The grain hoppers were going to Winchester Ag in Winchester, Ohio. Usually they only ship about 6 - 8 cars there at a time so this was unusually long. Its also nice to see since they haven't shipped much there in the past year. The gondola cars on the rear of the train were going to Cohen Recycling in Macon, Ohio. I filmed that also and that video will be posted soon. The outro shows the train switching behind Evans Landscaping in Newtown, Ohio and we get to see the usual slide show that pertains to the video along with my dogs. Note: The NS SD40-2 is only on this line for storage. Another one showed up shortly after this and as of August 2022 both SD40-2 units are in storage at Sardinia. I am told that Mervis Recycling bought 3481 in November of 2020.
Filmed March 4, 2021 AD. Thanks for watching!

I just love these quaint little towns with classic old factory's, tire stores , little shops, vintage homes etc. and of course the train is the frosting on the cake. I watch two channels about trains, this one and virtual rail fan. I must say this has an appeal to me that VR misses, and that would be more of a down home rural feel,,a homey type feel. Thanks Brian.

Hello again from the UK. So what have I learned today? Answer: the best way to make metal shine is not polish but to run a train over it. Now I understand why those people drive over level crossings in front of the train. They want to get their cars all nice and shiny. BTW loco 2414 has now officially displaced you Mr Jaw Tooth as star of the show.

That's what we like to see. Short line action with a healthy cut of cars never gets old, especially when an SD-40-2 is part of the lash up. BTW, in the first scene, what did that abandoned brick structure house at one time? Whatever it was, it must have been a sizeable operation of some kind, or so it appears.
@JawTooth
@JawTooth 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know what they did there because as long as I can remember the building has been vacant and closed up. It use to have a walkway that went over the road and connected to another huge brick building. I think they just store stuff in there. I wish the siding were still in place next to it. I always wonder what it looks like inside

Love hearing that echo as they ran between the buildings. Mighty cool, there, son! To minimize wind noise, pros told me that pointing the microphone directly into the wind helps. I do know, however, it’s not always possible to do that.

The lights had not started flashing until he was at the tracks. Since he had stopped for the crossing, then proceeded while the lights were still off, he was perfectly legal. Once he was committed his best move was to continue and get out of the train's way. Once saw a trucker start rolling on the Conrail main line, as soon as the gates started rising. Well, they started back down and he tore the crossbar off in his haste to get through before the freight coming in the other direction at about 60 mph. got him! After I stopped shaking I started laughing! By then there was no sign of trucker or truck. Good show, JT!
