Sue, no way !!! We're a lot alike in that I'm 60, married 33 years, very independent, love my hubby, and love my life, but not if I loose who I am and don't live authenticly . The Universe brought us together, and we can work through anything. Hubby has his independence and goes away camping and does his thing and then I do. We rescue animals, so we take turns when we go away from home. I could be alone or with someone. I love my own company and love people. I was like u when I was young! I was brave, fearless, I could camp anywhere, make anything and do it w just my best friend. We had fun and loved our lives and we lived them too. We went to enchanted rock last month, stayed in a rooftop cabin. It was amazing! Clear sky, big texas stars, and beautiful breathtaking sunset & sunrise. Safe travels, have fun!

I had to laugh, when you said you had slept on rocks before. When we were young, we would head off to our campsite after work. We always hot there after dark. Could hardly see to set up tent. Pitched that tent on many an empty beer can in my life. Good times. Enjoy your youth. You have plenty of time to rest when you're growing old.

Go to Dollar Tree and get some of there yard solar lights to place around your camp sight. At night you can see if you have any unwanted critters around. You could also place them around your van at night when sleeping. We place them on the dash and the backwindow when we are driving during the day so they can charge up. People tend to stay away late at night if they think you might see them coming please be careful there are a lot of crazies out there. Be safe and enjoy your adventure.

Was not trying to scare you just there are a lot of noise people around so if you can do something to keep them away it is best to try. Yes someone said to get a gun some states do not allow you to carry even with a carry permit no hand guns alot of State and National parks are no guns allowed. Some states you can have a rifle or shotgun in your possession but not a hand gun. I think it is New Jersey if you have a gun in your vehicle it is prison time even with a gun permit from another state. If you are not sure you could shot another person please do not get a gun that split second you hesitated is when they can take your gun away from you . Just use common sense and be aware of everything going around you. Again not trying to scare you at all just trying to give you some advice from a Grannie that has traveled all over the US by myself or with family and have done a lot of camping as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts.

LOVE seeing this, Jaylena. That's me too, love to strike out and GO. You're kitty cats will adjust. My dear babycat, Puddin moved a lot with me esp during military life. I used a harness with her, too, took her out at rest stops, etc. I kept an eye on her in new places we lived, she would explore but knew where to come back. I lived in a tent for 7 months the year I graduated from high school. A long time ago...lolol. I had a blast, made alot of good friends and good memories. Get yourself one of those mats to get you off the ground. I slept on a lounge chair, like you lay on to get a tan. Nice little thing to have if your ever in that position again. The van looks great and your cat is beautiful. I think I only saw one.

Get U a outdoor enclosed play yard 4 ur cats. It will b 2 hot in ur van without the air running. Then put ur cats on the harnesses & take on hikes with U. Bring plenty of water & food 4 them😁

Make sure that you get harnesses made for cats. The ones made for dogs my grandkitties can escape from. FYI- I found a Hoodia with a front pocket made for cats or small dogs...the grandkitties love walks and peak their heads out the top They have also been trained to a backpack. Spent time in it at home 1st then short trips. Now they prefer it for vet trips even...zipper always open a little at minimum! They love to have their human wear it with them in front and stick their heads out. They sometimes refuse to get out when they get home! Good luck! I am sure that it feels more like ho.e with your fur babies!

Make sure you lock your van, even if it is still within sight. Love your Smokey Bear shirt. Keep some pepper spray on you or close by at camping sights, just in case. A harness is a good idea for the cats. But you might want to get them tattooed with a number or micro-chipped if you're going to let them travel with you in the van. Also, you can get a couple of small GPS tracker tags to fit on their harnesses or collars, download the app & use your cell phone to track them. GPS tags are usually good for about 500 feet, tho some may go further. Get a couple of the old fashioned air mattresses for your tent (check at an Army/Navy surplus store for them). They are small but work great. Or maybe pick up some cheap foam mattress toppers from a dollar store. You can roll them up & store them in one of the van's cabinets. Or, if cut right, you can roll them up & stuff them into a pillow case.
