Haha as a Turkish subscriber I wasn't expecting an Istanbul episode. Honestly the touristy districts do not give you the full experience. It's like coming to London and only seeing piccadilly circus / trafalgar - which are mostly filled with tourists. As a Londoner I avoid those spots as much as possible. Similarly in Istanbul I'd recommend these areas instead: Bebek Arnavutkoy Karakoy Akaretler/Besiktas Nisantasi Kuzguncuk Balat Buyukada or Burgazada

Hey Obi! Thank you for sharing this video but, I have to say that, Istanbul isn’t middle east city, while you are on Bosphorus tour you should noticed that. Bosphorus is the far away best place in the world. On the other hand, you said its hard to find good coffee shops, you are wrong, there are beautiful places to drink coffee, and extremely beautiful restaurants, roof top bars etc. Istanbul is city of civilizations as important as Roma! Best wishes

Yeah Turkey is claimed as Middle East so it’s an easy (common) mistake and coffee is a matter of taste … but such common sense (as seen the answers) isn’t working in yt comment section. 🤷‍♂️ But I agree, besides the political issues Turkey has and why I’m avoiding to enter it, it’s an interesting country w/ Istanbul and Ankara as first entry points to explore and go even further into other areas. Btw I wonder if there’re not some places to buy or rent a scarf around the mosques- so you haven’t to get inventive. I understand the rule and I accepted it, f.e. I’ve to cover my tats before entering ritual/religious places around the world. So I really wonder about logistics.

Turkey is culturally considered Middle Eastern because Islam exists outside the Europe, so obi used the Western/European cultural location for Türkiye but geographically we all know Turkey is more European than Ukraine or Georgia or Romania or Cyprus.

Believe or not, Turkiye is officially a European country, being a member of all European communities, associations and institutions, except EU. At least, you can call it a Eurasian country, like Georgia, Armenia, Russia, etc. but definitely not a Middle Eastern country. If you make such a definition due to its religion, it's another problem, because Turkiye is the only secular country (by constitution) with a muslim population. About coffee shops, first you should keep away the touristic zones. There are thousands of decent coffee shops and restaurants all over Istanbul's both sides. I think you need a deeper research or a good tour guide. Still I hope you enjoyed your short trip. Welcome.

Yes Türkiye is an European country but it is also a middle eastern country. Just a small part of Türkiye which is called Thrace is in Europe. The rest of it (which is like over 90% of the land) is in the Middle East. Türkiye isn’t just because of the religion a middle eastern country, it’s because of the land, history and cultural similarity. Yes Istanbul is very modern and ‘European’ but the more east you go the more it feels like the Middle East in Türkiye. Y’all always speak like Istanbul is the whole of Türkiye when it’s actually just a small part of it. And also Türkiye isn’t the only secular country with a Muslim population I don’t know where tf you got that from. There are like Albania, Bosnia, Azerbaijan and Kosovo which are countries in Europe which are secular but have a Muslim majority population. And also countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Usbekistan, etc are countries in Asia which are secular but have a Muslim majority population. Y’all wanna be European so bad that it pisses me (a Turk) of cause it’s so pathetic. Grow up and accept it that Türkiye is in the Middle East. And also Middle East doesn’t mean Arab okay? So y’all don’t need to be scared the be called middle eastern.
@serhatdemir3293
@serhatdemir3293 2 ай бұрын
@@sim1648 All right, calm down, : 1- I said, Tr is "officially" European. This not a geographical or cultural issue, this is a political fact. 2- The term "Middle East" itself symbolizes a cultural conseption , rather than a geographical frame, which contains a bunch of authocratic conservative islamic states. Modern Turkey has no place amongst them, even though a significant part of the population fancy otherwise. 3- You are right about other secular countries with muslim populations, except Albania and Bosnia. I compared Turkiye with Middle-Eastern countries. 4- I know Turkiye is not a sociologically homogenius country, like almost all countries, so what? 5- How did you get such an idea that I want to be a member of EU so bad? Well, it would be much better than today in terms of individual prosperity but I have more socialist opinions about the wprld's order. 6- I rarely send such posts in social media. When I do it, I only chose such academic topics as much as my intellectual potential lets me and I try my best to keep my expression in a decent level. Naturally there may be oppositions and everybody has right to explain his/her thoughts. Believe me I kick ass if necessary but not here, because it's impossible physically. Therefore, I request, if you tend to continue the discussion, keep your manner at a good level.

Obi, I love, love, love, your videos of your visits to other countries. After looking at one of your travel videos, I feel like I’m recalling being on vacation to an exotic place with a superfine guy. And, what was left out of the video was all the naughty things we did to each other when day of exploration was over. Obi, you are indeed a fantasy man making fantasy videos that can take one’s imagination to the next level. Keep posting travel videos. Because both women and men can use the escapism of fantasizing being the camera watching the traveling videos of a fantasy man like you. And when the camera is off, imagining all naughtiness that went on between you and them before the next day of video shooting resumed. 😜

@redpapi3541
@redpapi3541 2 ай бұрын
I understand you meant no harm but I need you to not be naive of African Americans. Saying we know we are more than just our color. Sir, we are a proud people of our color, and ethnicity. Don't be fooled by racist American's who tried to diminished that! Here in America, we are a people of 'culture' and our mentality has never been to discriminate against any other culture(didn't say you said that but putting it out there). Our ancestry, heritage is all over the world because Africans were the foundation. It is because of culture..our culture that everyone wanted to follow and gain inspiration from. Also, I don't believe Mr Obi is American. Not sure if he was born here but grew up somewhere else..not sure. He can correct that, but know African American's travel the world to experience other cultures all the time. It didn't start with youtube bloggers and bloggers shouldn't be the center of a comment like that. Many are doing it but just not documenting it. Their just living for the moment and not worrying about making a video channel.

@@redpapi3541 well it's base upon my having traveled the world since the 70's, and never seeing any black people around. So my statement is based on facts. It's only in the past 10-15, yrs,have seen people of color, traveling. It was due to finances and, not the fact they did not want to travel. They simply could not afford to have it all. But the current generation can and are doing it. It's incredible to see the changes. That was really my point. Thanks!
