Your weeks of pregnancy are dated from the first day of your last period. This means that in the first 2 weeks or so, you are not actually pregnant - your body is preparing for ovulation (releasing an egg from one of your ovaries) as usual.
During the first two weeks of pregnancy, a woman's body is preparing itself for ovulation and potential fertilization. The menstrual cycle begins on the first day of menstruation and lasts for an average of 28 days, although it can vary from woman to woman.
The pregnancy is calculated from the first date of the last period.
In the first week after menstruation, the body begins to prepare for ovulation by producing estrogen. This hormone helps to thicken the lining of the uterus to prepare for a potential pregnancy. At the same time, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is released by the pituitary gland, which helps to stimulate the growth of follicles in the ovaries.
Around the second week of the menstrual cycle, ovulation occurs when one of the mature follicles releases an egg into the fallopian tube. This is the time when fertilization can occur if sperm is present in the fallopian tube. The egg then travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus, where it may implant itself in the uterine lining.
