You are a magician: your Hebrew is so fluent and so native, that I hardly heard an American accent, and I guess most of the Israelis will not notice it as long as you don't tell them you are not an Israeli.. I think that in all the cases you were not sure either it is masculine or feminine - it was masculine. I guess Hebrew is simpler because you don't have to entangle with "in our village it is .. but in in the neighbor village it is ..": Israel is a little village, and we have only one dialect.. Your Arabic videos helped me a lot, mainly because you pronounced the words very clearly; and you have many advantages as a teacher that we - the native speakers - lack.

Haha thank you!😂 It feels like everyone can always tell though🙈🤔 Or they can at least tell I’m foreign. Maybe I’ve gotten better, or maybe I just I have less of an accent when I’m more focused🤔 Anyway I’m happy to hear that my Arabic videos helped you!

Omg this video was so relatable! I grew up in America to Israeli parents. My accent is flawless except for the ר 😭 I don't know why it just sounds french. I randomly confuse זכר and נקבה which gives away that I'm American. It's really weird, but after drinking coffee or eating ice cream I can pronounce the Israeli ר flawlessly 😂 my accent disappears when I eat ice cream. My Israeli friend grew up in israel, moved to America at age 13 and he has since developed an American accent. I think speaking American English does something to our throats that makes it impossible to sound Israeli 😂😂
@thelanguagelife79622 жыл бұрын
LOL it really is so freaking hard to pronounce! I know very few non-native speakers, especially Americans, who really have it down perfectly. I've just learned to get over it and not obsess too much. The ice cream thing is hilarious😂

LOL no black magic at play here :) I actually learned it in school from a young age and heard it spoken at home, but I wasn't really that good at it until I decided I wanted to improve, at which point I basically read a ton of newspaper articles and consumed a ton of media in general.

I was born in the U.S. but grew up in Israel as a kid. Returning to Israel after 11 years back in the States my friends noticed that I acquired an American accent I didn't have before. I still have it after being back in Israel for 28 years. Gender is still a bitch for me and for most Israelis in Hebrew, especially counting. Whenever someone corrects my Hebrew when counting; let's say שלוש instead of שלושה I'll start counting on my fingers and say "oh six that's too many" -Always good for a laugh. Make sure when teaching you get the trickiest number 18 right. Also stay away from too many כאילו and בעצם. So I'm here for your excellent Arabic lessons but I thought I'd give you "פירגון" or as Google Translate would say "walk on it!" or "לכי על זה" !

מעניין אותי לדעת איך את מחלקת את הלוח זמנים שלך למטרת למידת שפות? כלומר ביום יום, כמה זמן את מקדישה לשפות (מכל בחינה) בניגוד למחויבויות היומיומית שלך, מנוחה, וכו. או שאת כמעט משלבת את שניהם? הרמת דיבור שלך ברבים מהשפות (איטלקית וערבית במיוחד) מאוד גבוהה ומרשימה.

@@a.maskil9073 תודה רבה!

I have a question. Why do many people pronounce Hebrew R as French R instead of pronouncing like Arabic or Spanish R ? Does anybody has an answer ?
@ChrisBadges3 жыл бұрын
I think it has to do with trying to sound like an Ashkenazi speaker, that is a Hebrew speaker with (Eastern) European roots. There seems to be some prestige in being part of that group, so some people imitate the accent.
