The first wall is nothing special. I am using 10 foot 2x4's as the walls. In this video I make two sections and stand them up to make a 20 foot long wall.

Love the videos, glad to see you did the walls in 2 parts. I'd love to come visit and show you how to use a framing square to layout the studs on top & bottom plates. A scrap 2x4 temporarily nailed diagonally (about 45° -ish) across 4-5 studs will help keep the wall square when you stand it up, which can be removed as you install the exterior sheeting. Another useful trick is nailing a bit of scrap to the rim joist to keep the bottom plate from sliding off the floor when standing up a wall.

The top plate should be double so it can lock the two wall sections together. This also gives something for the roof trusses to anchor to.

+gardenman3 absolutely. Once all four walls were installed I put the top plate on.

Nice work.....I thinks I saw the roof trusses on in yesterdays video when the Phantom 4 took aerial views. It's going to be a great workshop.

+gardenman3 how so? The front is level with the house. The back is off by about 6 feet.

for future ref when marking out your top and bottom plate if you stand them side up and mark that then you dont have to bend over to find you lines

I would have taken them back if they were in that condition. also I can tell that you never dropped anything on your feet or stepped on a nail otherwise you'd never wear anything other than work boots on a worksite

+dennis binyon I would have taken them back but I wanted to get work done. When they dried there were only 2 that were really bad. ... I stepped on a nail 20 years ago in sandals. It was painful. Now that I am doing roof stuff I have on shoes.

First broken toe he’ll put his regular shoes back on. I have a feeling he’s a shoe guy and just doing the sandal thing for the video.

I was a sandal guy but now wear shoes. Essentially for videos :) people have a hard time watching sandals.

very cool! like the drone shot too because it helped with the scope of the project. I have a concrete pad and I'd like to do this, but I need to burn up all the fire wood on it first!

+Justin Rinehart thank you. I think that drone shots are going to become a standard. I like them a lot. Having a concrete pad base will be a lot quicker than having to build the wall and pour the Footers

Looks like you got the scrap from the bottom of the stack and what was left after the good stuff was pick out and the crap that was left.

It was bad. The next time I went there it was much better. and I did not let them pick out the lumber.

Yeah, I feel your pain Seth. had the same thing happen to me. Had a bunch of 16 footers delivered from a so-called reputable lumber yard and they were so bent and warped ,I actually couldn't use more than 50% of them. They said the boards were fine when they left their yard. Last time I did that...hey ,btw, love your videos. Gonna build a 12 X14 screened in patio and your videos are helping immensely! Keep up the great work!! And Thanks!! James

+James Marzinsky oh my. Did you keep them or send them back? I like to go to another yard in my area that has prime lumber. They will help load it but they want you to pick it out. I am happy my videos have helped!

I should have. When it dried it was not as bad as I first thought it was. Some boards I just could not use.

That's true. I still shop there often for other things but have not purchased lumber again. I drive an hour out of the way for wood.
