Meet Beau Baty. A 5th generation, Rocky Mountain hunting outfitter, Beau took his family tradition in a slightly different direction. After seeing working pack llamas in Argentina, he became fascinated by the Ccara, a distinct breed used for thousands of years by the Inca as beasts of burden. After returning to the US, Beau began acquiring Ccara llamas and using them to pack out elk and deer on his personal hunts in Utah and Idaho. Soon after, Beau left a lucrative job in the oil fields of the Dakotas to found Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas. Today, Beau and his wife, Kirstin, own hundreds of llamas, rent pack stock to hunters and trekkers and operate guided hiking tours across some of the West’s most iconic landscapes. First Lite's new film, "Llamafitter," chronicles their unique lifestyle.
