Forget about CTC, even base pay vs take home is pathetic. Espp - 15% Epf - 24% Tax - 34% Take home - 27%(approx) CTC normally 1.4x of base pay, which includes bonuses & RSU. Now take home is 18- 19% Everything is fine except tax, which is very high and doesn't return anything. Tax terrorism must end

I'm not a Govt supporter. But your contention that Govt deducts 35% as tax is not correct, bro. There are many exemptions as well as slabs. It's very fashionable to say 35% is the tax on your income. Marginal tax of 35% is on incremental income not on entire income. Just work out your actual tax deducted/paid and compare it with total income as well as perks. Then you will realise the reality, if you want to be objective rather than a provocative union leader.

@@blueoceansf Govt doesn't "loot" 35% in taxes. Only a few people like you must be paying 35%, that also on highest income not from first Re. Most even don't pay 5-10%. How would a country run if there are no taxes? Salaried class is taxed heavily alright. But with GST etc, at least other users are paying something. Govt should abolish IT, pensions etc and collect indirect taxes more.

Ms. Palki, I like your wide range of concerns you share on screen. However, here one major thing is missed - most of the people in major cities in India are staying in rent. Most of the owners don’t provide their PAN Cards; hence, people can’t provide proof that they’re giving rent more than ₹99999/year. Although, all of them are paying more more than this amount every month. First ask the Govt to capture such income under taxes properly. Middle class salaried are suffering a lot. Thanks for raising this!

YES! Good point! of all the years I lived on rent not once my landlord gave me their PAN. Even though it doesn't matter in the new regime, for the old one, this would've blocked claiming full 80C benefits on rent > ₹1 lakh. Sneaky! #TaxLoot #TaxAwareness

I left my job very Sadly, bcz of two reasons, low wages and that too as a CTC. Which means the real salary was like a joke. What's the point of all this if you can't save a sht. You give 9 hours to a company that doesn't give a sht about you. Issue is, nobody raises voice against it bcz nobody has another option rather than becoming a slave.

We pay taxes on salary, and also we pay GST on every single thing which we buy. even for small small metals which a rupee/ gram. Hell with the taxes and RIP this Tax structure. Direct and indirect taxes put together almost 60-70% goes in this way, we get only 30-40% net

Such a foolish report! The PF deducted earns you 8.5% interest and paid back to you after you are out of job for 3 months or after certain age. Income tax is way lower than some of the other countries, that too India offers tax savings by giving allowances (old tax regime). Lets talk about pay. After 2020 pay ranges to the cost of living in India is much higher than any other European countries. Basically you save more and enjoy more luxurious life for what you get paid in India!

Ideally, the employer's contribution towards the EPF should not be included in the CTC. Out of the three organizations I have worked for so far, only one was fair in this regard. Companies also deceive employees by reducing the EPF contribution to enhance their take-home salary. In one of my previous organizations, around 12,000 rupees per month were deducted towards EPF. However, when I changed that job, the EPF deduction came down to 2,500 rupees per month, even though my CTC and take-home pay increased. Such practices should be addressed legally by the government.

In the hassle of the 30% tax, we all forgot about the 4% cess surcharge. 😢😢 4% tax on the name education and fees of IIMs 30LAC and fees of pvt medical colleges 50lac+, engg college fees 10lac +. Compared to europian countries, Indian take home salary is far better. Also there are diverse options for tax exemptions in India. Atleast what you paid to the govt can be taken back. But in European countries, income tax is 60% of your salary. And zero exemptions.

Even after a full decade we still have such reportage. Why? Why is it so hard to understand that as an employee including the topmost management line need to know how much oneself costs to keep them on payroll for a business that needs to sell stuff in open competitive market to stay alive and relevant? It should even be practiced in homes so each family member understands how much it takes to them each one of them and the whole family afloat. Might inculcate some sense of "duty" against the endless stream of "rights".

NICELY EXPLAINED. You forget to mention variable pay/EVA. This variable pay depends upon various performance parameters. Except few most of the persons wont get full variable pay. Though that is also part of CTC. Apart from that at higher level there is commission again depend on various performance parameters. Finally a fat CTC will be projected for a job. But that's how private industry works
