@@warleyonwednesdays2286 Embiid, Tatum, and Dame reached their "Superstar" status because of the success they've had during the course of many regular seasons- granted they also had success in the postseason out of the 3 only Tatum has reached the Conference Finals or beyond.. Personally, I honestly do not view Embiid as a "Superstar", but the majority of the "Superstars" are currently the main featured faces of the NBA.. Jimmy on the other hand, was specifically described as a "Playoff Superstar" and he was crowned with that because of the way he played on his way to reaching the NBA Finals... He was walking every single bit of his talk leading up to the matchup with Denver- but then after Game 2, none of his talk was being validated at all_ If he hadn't did all the talking he was doing, this probably wouldn't have been such a big deal to anyone- he brought this on HIMSELF! He needed to step up and do what he had done the previous 3 rounds: RISE TO THE OCCASION and ANSWER THE CALL!!! He shrunk under the lights and let his entire team down... Can't do that when the game was THAT CLOSE TO BE TAKEN DOWN THE STRETCH..😒 JUST CAN'T DO IT!!🤦

I can honestly say for once I was just as frustrated as Nick on this one. Others get killed because of the projection of what they are going to do. Nobody went into the finals thinking Jimmy was going to be this monster of a game changer. When you compare Jimmy to others, you will see those other superstars expectations were way higher than his. He is a superstar in his own right not comparable to many others imo

Nick was wrong on this one. The reason. Can you imagine if KD had put up 21 points a game in the Finals? He would be getting called a snake and bus rider at every turn. And he has played in the Finals and won so this isn’t a what if. Tatum got killed last year for his performance. LeBron gets mocked for 2011. Nick brought up Steph in 2016 as an example which doesn’t make sense as people did criticize icier that and turned it into a meme, plus Skip Bayless and Rob Parker still hold that series against him and say he was carried by KD. The point here is, Butler not getting that treatment proves he isn’t in that tier.

Curry has been mocked and roasted for a Finals that happened 8 years ago, and due to what was LITERALLY the only bad playoff performance in his career, people created a narrative about him being a bad playoff/Finals guy when that's ridiculous and blatantly false as it's the other way around, all this while being a 6'2 PG who apparently can't be the best because of his size (according to the same Stephen A.), but can only receive the criticism of being the best. That is what really being judged by different rules looks like.

The feeling I’m getting, as a Heat fan, is that we are ultimately disappointed in Jimmy, but this run confirmed we need more and Jimmy can’t bring us the chip alone. However, The reason we aren’t critical is because we don’t doubt for a second he did not give his everything. So we don’t wanna tear down our guy for giving 100% but we are being realistic with our situation. Other fan bases? Would tear their own guys up. This playoff-run was more legendary, than Bron dragging the Cavs to the finals, in Bron's second season. I don't think anybody in the history of the league, has lead a team like this to the finals. The closest thing might be the bubble-Heat, when Jimmy led them to the finals. This is the first team in the history of the league, to make the finals, as both a play-in team, and as an eight-seed. This doesn't only cement Jimmy as a superstar. This elevates his position on the all-time list. Allen Iverson leading PHI to the finals, and Bron the Cavs, are used constantly as arguments for greatness. Jimmy's feat was far greater. Isiah Thomas' ankle-game, a single playoff-game, is brought up every time Isiah is mentioned. Jimmy played three whole series of playoff-basketball, on an injured ankle. Jimmy Butler is now a top-2 small forward in the league. And, all time, he is at least inside top-5 small forwards, now.

Because the overall consensus is the post season is where stars are made. Thats why a guy like kawhi is regarded as better than russ or harden and why nash isnt regarded as better than shaq or kobe. Steph has been killed since 2016 and the entire media. In 17/18 he was "carried" by Durant even though in each series he only had one bad game and in 17 almost abwraged a triple double. In 19 he couldn't win without Durant or Klay, same as 2021, 2022 all of a sudden he had a superteam again. Everyone including you claim his title runs are fraudulent. Its all of course nonsense but it's what people have said.

@@godisgoodgodisgreat3434 it's like he tries to deny he was on that bandwagon. He was on that bandwagon this year too saying the Warriors were the luckiest franchise ever because of Deaaron Fox's injury. Injuries happen every year and it's unfortunate but I've never seen it matter so much for anyone but Steph and the Warriors by salty fans/haters.

Man the media absolutely accept his titles with KD wtf are you talking about? People wouldn't be talking about Steph being top 10 all time if those runs were "fraudulent".

@@foghornfoggyface they accept them now that he's won another one without Durant. It's like Kobe without Shaq he didn't get validated until then by a lot of the media.

One of the RARE times I side with Wright. Broussard can't trash Butler and then immediately follow it up with "Nobody kills Jimmy for this performance". That makes no sense when you are doing it. On commentary, both Marc Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy called out Jimmy's poor performance and justifiably so. How is Jimmy getting a pass? This postseason run cemented what real leaders are in Jimmy and Jokic. Why would you take Joel over Jimmy? Joel needs all of his teammates to adjust their games to setup for Joel's numbers. The 76ers were 13-5 including the 2 postseason wins without Joel. Everyone should take Jimmy over Joel for the season. Jimmy actually empowers his teammates and shows up when it matters. Jimmy is a superstar. He needs to be praised for helping lead the Heat to the finals and criticized for underperforming in the finals. Both of which are happening. This is a nonsense discussion.

A very perplexing player. A non superstar player who does superstar things. Then you have legit superstars who's never even lead their team to the Finals.

@@trollinthedungeon5255 Yes he was. He won an MVP, he won multiple scoring titles in a league of trees while being 6ft (most would say 5'10-5'11 who have met him), he changed pop culture in the late 90s-2000s and brought fame to a move every kid on the playground wanted to emulate. He was a superstar.

Nick prematurely placed jimmy in club superstar and he’s been objectively bad since the bucks series and now trying to justify anointing him too soon. He also played poorly in the conference finals and had some no shows.

Exactly! It's one thing to lose to the better/more talented team but to avg 21 pts and have 8 points in the first 40 mins of a closeout game is unacceptable for a "Superstar"
