I first heard these soaring notes and progressions in the fall of 1973 and fell in love with them. This is one of the all time greatest prog rock songs and has remained so very fresh. I have seen it performed over the years and even now Steve Hackett continues with its wonderful tradition. On this version John Wetton's vocals add a great deal. I even named my daughter born in 1983 Genesis. YES the sands of time.

One of Steve Hackett's best solos! I have memories of drifting downstream... with the headphones on- listening to Selling England by the Pound :)

For me it is either this one or the beginning of solo in Pigs (Three different ones) from Pink Floyd´s magnificient David Gilmour.

Come on, you know it would be better if Daryl Stuermer threw a few van halen licks through that section.

This performance literally made my skin tingle. Absolutely brilliant. What skill, from all concerned but especially Steve and the keyboardist.
