I just noticed Phil Collins plays all alone the drum part of first half of Firth of Fifth solo (keyboard solo) without any support by Chester Thompson, he joins in the guitar solo part and doubles Phil's drums with minor variations. When I was a teenager back in the late 70s and early 80s friends and I would earnestly discuss who were the best; Genesis, Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd etc. I was always firmly for Yes, the best prog of the 70s. But I now believe Genesis stood the test of time best.

I bought a double cd of these concerts new late 2007 - this is one of my favourite tracks , apart from in the cage - Daryl struemer is a fantastic guitarist - this is one of his best performances ! Another great track from the cd is " conversations between 2 barstools " which is basically a ' duel ' between drummer Chester Thompson and Phil collins drumming on actual bar stools - amazing album !

This performance of this song is outstanding. For one reason that it includes nearly all the members of genesis in that photographic montage. Magnificent...

well not really...................technically Stuermer is good but for 'haunting' listen to Hackett playing FOF

Daryl Steurmer is pretty bloody good, isn't he? Steve Hackett was Genesis original guitarist. I loved him to bits until he walked away, the same as Peter Gabriel. The thing about Hackett and Gabriel is the band they walked away from broke the fans hearts. But as it goes, the band survived with some awesome musicians. xxx

Ridiculously overindulgent and showy, to my mind. Steve's version is superior by far.

Tony Banks: "we wanted Phil to do well, but not that well" wonderfully honest.
@SuzyQ3343 жыл бұрын
Ha ha Richard. I also remember reading an interview with Phil where he says Tony advised him not to play the piano. IMHO, Tony either has a quirky sense of humour ... or he's just a git! Either way, this old Genesis fan has no complaints about how things panned out after PG left.
