Guys, they make a puck for the Ram mount to fish the wires under it. No need to drill that slot. Also, if you have an existing transducer wire running from transom, before you pull the old one through, tie a small string or rope to it and pull that line through so you don't fight the new transducer wire. Just put it on the rope and pull it through and you're good to go

not mine --- somehow they run the old TD wire up around the shifter and put a screw right on it -- its wasn't moving no mater what I wound up having to cut it out

Other than the Ram Puck with wire holes, there’s also a hooded port available. You drill a hole big enough for a connectors to the unit, drill holes for cover and fill hood with silicone before you screw down the hood. Very professional appearance. I second the fact they pulled the transducer wire out of the console sleeve without a pull cord. I’m still tripin’ on that! Next they didn’t mention you need to disconnect the battery BEFORE you wire in the unit! And finally, the excess front transducer wire should go in the slot where the power wire comes out of. Then you have four to six inches of transducer wire right behind the front unit OR a hole in the bottom of the foot pedal pan and run the wire back to come out right beside the power wire - behind the unit. Final/Fiinal Fill the rear transfucer screw holes with silicone and dip the screws in silicone before screwing them in. Same with any new or added wire lamps you put in the transoms. Zip tie transducer wire along steering cable. I’m OCD - I like a 100% professional job. Maybe they did some of these steps and left them out. That’s why I like to do jobs myself.

I bought that same Ram Mount for my 12" Garmin and the plate that attaches to the gimbal bracket was to small and the unit vibrated like hell. I changed over to the larger 11" plate and all is well now. I did the same with the 10" Garmin on the deck. The larger plate makes all the difference in the world, especially if you run rough water.

@@BentRodBassin Haven't been able to put the boat in the water due to weather, and I'm already annoyed with BPS. It took 3 days to find out exactly which Lowrance that put on the boat (want to sell it). Boat is offsite. When I finally visited the boat, found out they were wrong; PLUS, they installed the Tripleshot on the bow with a Splitshot Trans, and the Splitshot at the console with a Tripleshot trans. Not a big deal, I know. Just doesn't give me a warm fuzzy before the boat's even wet. Take care!

I have a very similar setup and I’m thinking about adding a Humminbird unit at my dash in addition to the Lowrance. I haven’t been able to find a single video on KZbin showing what happens if you mount two different brands of side imaging transducers on the transom. @@BentRodBassin When you say right side do you mean under the rail? There is space there I could run a wire. Or maybe run it through the right-side rod locker? Or some other way? Under the rail would be easiest, protected and hidden. Should connect up under the console at that point.

@@BentRodBassin Seems like the easiest solution depending on where I mount the ethernet switch. I'll be connecting i-Pilot from the Ultrex trolling motor as well. It would seem, then, that the best place for the switch could be at the bow. I haven't torn that apart yet to see how much room I have though... Thanks.
@qz20262 жыл бұрын
Worst case scenario would be to mount the switch under the console. It really depends on how much space I have up at the bow after I remove the cover. But, In that case I would have to run two ethernet cables. One for the trolling motor and one from the Helix back to the switch. I'll have to check to see if two cables could run under the rail. I think that I would have access to the under area of the console under the right instrument cluster. Thanks for your help.
