In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Please tell Andy, he did a awesome job at explaining this method of installation and for including certain pertinent info that would get a zillion questions on.....lol Clean, precise and definitely professional! Just got a used skiff and looking to clean everything up and the wiring looks like a bird’s nest! I can’t have that, plus I’ll be upgrading the electronics this fall and want to have all my home runs ran for when they go on sale.

I am looking at purchasing this very unit. I assume that I have to buy a second side imaging transducer and a y cable to offset the noise given by my trolling motor. I would suggest using an isolator inline to a second battery which I will be dedicating to my Solix. I like how 8 gauge was noted for the power cable. Overall this was a very professional presentation which I am bookmarking for my future install. Thank you and well done!

What kind of sealant do you use? And did you use sealant when you put the boards in with the screws?

Did you use any sealant on the screws or the transducer mounting board? And do you have the contact information for the people to make that particular board? Thanks in advance.

Just installed mine and use 1/4 “ coaxial cable clamps. I think they are a little heavier then the standard one like you were using. They already have a screw which I replace with a stainless.

I have basically the same setup with a left and right Si and Sonar transducer. Humminbird kept telling me I had interference so I ran the transducer cables through electrical conduit that runs just under the top rail of the boat. I ran the power in a separate conduit directly to the main battery. Then cables connect to the Y cables and attached to my Helix unit. I decided to try left and right Si because I was getting signal loose on opposite side for Si. With two no loose. I did figure out the boat level trolling at 1.5 mph. Then with the boat on the trailer leveled and did the level of my two Si transducers. I have the Sonar slightly pointing forward so I get a reading while going full throttle which is max 40 mph. I had a local shop clean up the wiring that was on the main battery. I explicitly told them the fish finder wire is purposely ran by itself and connects direct to battery. When I got the boat they ran it into the wiring tube and connected to new wiring junction. So far I haven't seen any interference. I should of made a note and left it in the boat.

Great video, thanks. Just a quick question, when explaining where to position your side transducer you say to position the top of the ducer 1/4" below bottom of boat but then say that puts the bottom of the ducer above the bottom of the boat? I dont understand. If the top of the ducer is 1/4" BELOW bottom, doesnt that put the entire ducer BELOW the boat?? Just got a side scan unit and want to make sure i install the ducer correctly.
@Wired2Fish3 жыл бұрын
That is correct Bean, it was a misspeak on Andy's part. Position the top of the SI transducer 1/4'' ABOVE the bottom of the boat. Thanks for checking in on this. Figured there would be a few questions from those using the content as intended.

Thanks! I am curious how you rigged 2 side imaging transducers and the high speed skimmer to the same head unit? Did you have to use 2 different Y splitters? Does it make a difference for Helix units?
@Wired2Fish2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, 3 ducers into 1 unit is possible with using 2 "y" cables. 1 - 14M ID SILR Y (SOLIX) to separate the left and right SI beams, that "y" cable then plugs into a 14M ID SIDB Y and the high speed skimmer into the other end of the "Y" cable. Hope this helps.
