In this day of synthetic films without any character, humanity, heart or human compassion, love or what it means to sacrifice for others, this movie was an emotional breath of fresh air !!! ❤

You know...the globalists decided to rename a bunch of things. American Indians have been known as Indians since the last part of 1400's. We learned to call ourselves this. Everyone of every race called us Indians. About 600 years we've known the name Indian. Of course, every American Indian Tribe knows the name they call themselves. This new name the globalists wanted to be the PC word for American Indians... just doesn't work. Native American is the name for every race of human born in America. American Indian is what we Tribal people are. I say... the globalists aren't going to redefine who we are or tell us what to call ourselves. Silly people think they rule the world. HA!!!!

Thanks for sharing this gem of a movie on KZbin! The friendship between "Fish Hawk" and "Corby" seems so real, genuine, and heartfelt as to be almost tangible. The character of "Towsack Charlie" is rich in symbolism and metaphor, a-n-d, is given some lines of amazing depth. All in all, a complex film full of food for thought without being preachy.

I love movies like this, even though Corby had a very caring father, he also had a mentor to teach him life lessons. I was just like Corby when I was young, looking for that adult mentor.

Will Sampson, while winning The Canadian Film Award for his portrayal of a great mentor in this film was in real life a mentor to countless young Indigenous people, and since I knew Will. "Sonny" personally I can tell you he was a great blessing to everyone who knew him, and transformed many lives!! And by the way, just like Fish Hawk, Sonny also overcame his drinking problem, that he had struggled with in his younger years. Oh, the untold great things he could have done if only he had lived longer!! I have a youtube video out in memory of Sonny to commentate the anniversary of his passing. Google Remembering Will Sonny Sampson Jr. if you'd like to watch it. I hope people will think it does him justice 👍.

American Indians are what American Indians are called and we have been since about the 1400's. I'm an American Indian, everyone I know is an American Indian. Someone made up a bunch of terms and then decided that everyone else should use those terms, Native American is one of those stupid terms. These made up new terms are not acceptable, we don't want them and we won't be dictated to about our own Names!! We're American Indians, always have been.

The atmosphere of this film is great. Can anyone recommend more titles for me? As for Will Sampson, since he was so attractive in his old age, what was it when he was young? :d He was beautiful, had a great voice and was very tall. He left behind two beautiful sons.
@ginfrench33503 жыл бұрын
You can google Will Sampson movies to get a list of Sonny's big screen, and made for t.v. films, from the time he was very young, until his last few acting years when his disease, scleroderma, changed his looks drastically. Of course, his inner beauty far surpassed his outer beauty! Sonny was married 4 times and had 10 kids. However, his first child James, died a few hours after birth. After that Sonny had 5 boys and 4 girls, and had great relationships with them all! Sadly, his actor and artist son Timothy James died from lung cancer in 2019. P.S.-----I have photos of Sonny when he was a little boy, and he was gorgeous then as well!!!

I'm old and won't have a dog as a pet anymore. I buried too many of them. You can bury them in the ground, but you can't bury the memories. I have enough scads and scars too last a lifetime. Did you cry when old Yeller died? Good movie and I always liked Will Samson. I am part Native American, and my family trees says I'm part of the melting pot in this world. Most of us if we could see our true heritage would see we are all a bunch of mixed Mutts, just like those pups, and none are pure. Knowing that, how can anyone judge others by looks.................................................................... Stange, he said Osage. My great-grandmother as Osage and met once when I was about 10 or 11, and she was over 100 years old at the time. She was still spry for her age. She lived half her life in tepees. Her son my grandfather taught me Choctaw ways, so I though he was Choctaw, but I only know part of the story.
