I knew Will, "Sonny" Sampson, and his set rule was to only take on respectable roles that would make Native Americans proud. After his big break out in "Cuckoo's Nest", Sonny was in such demand, he was offered countless movies, paying big bucks. However, Sonny always said "he couldn't be bought", by Hollywood or anyone, to act in any movie that compromised his values or his integrity!! Sonny always tried to be a role model for his people, and all people.

Any movie with Will Sampson, Wes Studi, Adam Beech, Chief Dan George, Graham Greene, or Russell Means are always worth a look. So much talent in the NA community and so few roles. I remember when Will passed away and I was crushed by his death. He truly was a kind spirit, humorous and giving. He reminds me of my relatives on and off the Rez. The men are huge and of few words while the women tend to be petite and social. The world always felt safer when you were around them.

I will recommend the Canadian film Fish Hawk as a must see where like Relentless Will plays the main character, and gives a stellar performance. He actually won The Canadian Film Award ( like an Oscar or an Emmy) for his role in the film. Perhaps you already know about all of this. Also, he did the 70's show Vegas with Robert Urick. I enjoyed Larry Wilcox's performance as well. The interactions of his character with Sampson's go a long way to developing our understanding of "Sam's" leadership qualities, depth of loyalty to others, and his devotion to duty. Though many think John Hillerman was British from watching "Magnum P. I." , he was born in Texas !.

Damnation, what a great movie. An assemblage of some of the greatest tv actors ever. I can find no fault in this movie. A definite 10.

Very good movie and plot. I am surprised because most movies of this era (1977) were very superficial.

Good film. Takes its time getting started, but once it gets going its good. Will was in a lot of films, always in a brief role, but he is a good actor. Pity he never got any recognition. Thank you for posting

Will could do/say more with his expressions and his eyes than about any other actor I've seen. He will be missed!

Sweelen Simpson Agreed, he had recognition. Would have had more if he had lived longer. RIP

@Takeshi hiraoka, Sonny (Will Sampson) was in over 15 films in his 12 year acting career before his passing in 1987, but the best picture he ever made, where he played the lead character was the Canadian film. "Fish Hawk", for which he won The Canadian Film Award for his stellar performance. That award was equal to winning an Oscar. Many people feel it was his best film, as he also felt that way. He liked how deep and complex his character Fish Hawk was, and how he overcame the demons in his life and found his own honorable truth. You may have already seen Fish Hawk, but if not you can watch it on youtube for free. It's worth your time!! You can also google Will Sampson paintings to look at some of Sonny's artwork. He was an award winning artist all of his life and would always say he made movies to pay for his art supplies. Most of his paintings are now with family and loved ones, or hanging in famous museums such as The Smithsonian Museum of Art. Yaa'te'eh my friend.👍

Thanks for the upload, 41 years later I get to watch it. Relentless aired as a double feature with the pilot movie Spider-Man on CBS 9/14/1977. I missed it because NBC aired " Night of the Heavyweights " boxing card which had Ken Norton, Jimmy Young, Ron Lyle & Larry Holmes all on one card, noway I was to miss those fights.
