We sometimes get a kick out of just random off shore fishing with the pontoon boat. It is surprising how often you can do quite well that way.

Excellent video. This seems like a fun and relaxing way to fish.

We really enjoy trolling from the pontoon boat. We prefer fishing in lots of wind because the fish seem to always bite better in the wind when you troll. The second day the water was white capping and the pontoon hardly moved. Thanks for supporting my channel and I love watching yours.

Even though there were a a few drums!! I see your wife is up to her same ol thing!! stack'n up!! She can slap fish. LOL Good to see a good day on the water with the family!! Thank you so much again for sharing your family time with all of us!!

Funny thing CAM is that we were all wanting Suzzane to catch the fish because she absolutely loves to fish but rarely gets to go. But she only caught three during the two days. Those fish somehow can spot a novice two boats away. Come to think about it - - - I didn't catch any???? Thanks again buddy.

As being a dedicated angler...that comment Unc. about "what those fish can spot" there is truth and fact in that statement some where in those words!! No Doubt!! Till next time!!

Looks like you know what your doing, how far back were you running the crank baits? I'm gonna try Pomme after watching your videos.
@jerryrouth61153 жыл бұрын
Kenny, how far back we troll changes continuously. How far back we troll depends on what we are fishing for, how deep the fish are and which lure we are using. The speed we are trolling also affects how far we fish behind the boat. It also makes a difference whether we are trolling with the gas motor or the electric motor. Even which rod holder the rod is in and the length of the rod makes a difference. I would say that with 10 lb test line trolling about 100 to 110 feet back is probably our go-to starting distance. Thanks for a great question but I would say watch several of my videos and you can see first hand what I mean.

@@jerryrouth6115 Thanks for the reply. I have just played with trolling a little bit after going out on a guided trip up on Lake Erie but look farword to doing more of it and developing confidence it it. I actually bought planer boards and dipsy divers to try. I have caught a few little drum and white bass, nothing any size. Thanks for doing the videos. Kenny

Jerry any tips on Kayak fishing for Walleye or Muskie on Pomme during the Fall and Winter?
@jerryrouth61155 жыл бұрын
Sarge, the Walleye took quite a hit during the hot weather and strong thermocline in 2018. I saw hundreds of them along the banks on the lower part of the lake. I haven't caught a single Walleye while trolling this year. I don't fish for Muskie altho I catch a few fishing for other species. September through November are the prime months though and I know a guy that catches several of them during that period. I don't know of anyone who fishes for them from a Kayak though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Thanks for asking and keep up the good videos.

That looked like a fun time out fishing with friends and family. Plus the pets. Those were some nice walleye. Sometimes if the fish are not biting I look for rocks, arrowheads.
@jerryrouth61157 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you would fit right into our group. My wife takes some time to look for rocks almost every time we go out. We were the most surprised people on the lake when we caught several nice Walleye given the fishing conditions we had. Thanks again Wayn.

It was a fun trip and surprisingly a successful one given the conditions we had to fish with. I too have been rather lax in supporting my Tuber friends. I have had problems with my internet provider and my Microsoft Version 10 crashed. It has taken my two weeks to get back up and I still have a was to go. Thanks as always Mike.

Have been thinking about getting a pontoon boat. How does yours handle on windy days? Thanks for taking me with you all. Didn't catch a walleye, but had a great time! Robin
@jerryrouth61155 жыл бұрын
Robin, one of the advantages of a pontoon boat is that they are so stable in the wind. They don't wobble side to side. My favorite time to fish for walleye is when there are white caps on the water and the pontoon boat is what I prefer to use then. My wife and I are unhappy that we may have to sell our pontoon boat. I am 81 now and it is getting difficult for us to load and unload it. We had to sell our favorite Jon boat last year for the same reason. Getting old is not what it is cracked up to be. Thanks again for your support of FISH4FUN.

How many feet of line are you running out at 2 to 2.5 mile thanks me and my wife troll from a pontoon. Great video! Take care!
@jerryrouth61157 жыл бұрын
We run from about 65 to 110 feet most of the time. We want the lure to dig into the ground frequently and all the time if it is a clean enough bottom such as sand or gravel. The first day we were trolling in 8 to 14 foot of water most of the time and were running 90 to 100 feet depending on whether the rod was on the inside or outside from the bank. On the second day we were trolling 5 to 7 foot deep and 65 to 80 feet back. The amount of line is also affected by the depth the lure runs. Thanks for asking and thanks for coming along.
