Great stuff as usual! One thing I found with my reel is that it makes a pretty good flip-casting (as distinct from "flipping") reel. As well as the light spool - that might also be due to the static braking system (working in a similar way to the Alphas Air Stream Custom fixed inductor). Having the brakes kicking in right from the get go seems to be pretty handy for those close-quarters low, flat casts where the flex and recovery of the rod is doing most of the work to throw the lure. Paul.

Hard to say, in the big picture of BFS its still a bargain for what you get. Its going up against the Aldebaran BFS to see where it stands against the top JDM reels

I am torn between the Fishband clamber hyper micro and the Shimano 21 SLX BFS... As my BFS reel??? They are about $30 apart in price difference and I have not seen the Shimano SLX BFS tested yet so I do not know if I should just stretch for the Shimano instead of the clamber? Your testing and advice is much appreciated as much as I would like to keep the Zephyr I returned it there was just too much fussing with backlash and misbehavior line getting caught in the spool frame for me to keep it so I returned it to Amazon. So it is down to two contestants: The Fishband CHM? or Shimano SLX BFS ? What is your personal opinion in the matter? Thank you for the advice, God bless.

After many KZbin videos and much deliberation on picking out my first sub $100 BFS my Clamber Hyper Micro Showed up in the mail today. I spooled it with 10lb PE4 Sunline Siglon braid, put it on my 6'8" Tsurinoya Legend rod and started casting. No matter what I did as as lure selection (1/8 to 5/16 true weight) and brake settings I could not get this sort or distance and any cast with real effort would result in almost immediate backlash and line snapping. I tried spooling various amounts of line on the spool then switched to 8lb and 10lb power pro as well in various amounts and never could get to the point where I could cast confidently. Only soft side armed casts. Any suggestions?

One oz is about 28 grams, Clamber Hyper Micro is able to cast 1 gram,ie, 1/28th oz lure

I generally stay at or slightly above 1/16 ounce total weight. The only time I really drop below that is when I’m targeting really highly pressured trout in the creeks

With both the Clamber and Aldebaran I find 1.5 g to be the practical limit. 1 g is just a pain. Nice having a second, less pricey reel for low end work. Staying below 2 g is critical for most bluegill fishing.

The more you reduce the bait weight, the more the weight of the swivel counts. Wouldn't it be more realistic to state the total weight? In your test, of course, it doesn't matter. But compared to my baits, for example.

I don't know if it's just the magical illusion created by the camera or not, but looking at this video makes me think that the Clamber might clobber the GH100. I love my GH100 and use it over a lot of reels that cost 6-8 times what I paid for it. Do you think the Clamber is better put together than the GH100? My GH100 has terrible tolerances, so much so that I had to pull the main bearing and wrap it in aluminum foil just so the crank didn't wobble severely.

@@FocusAndEnjoyCreekFishing my GH100 has sloppy tolerances but casts light weight lures better than my Shimano Aldebaran or my Abu Revo EXD, so I tend to fish it more than those expensive reels. I ordered the Clamber and it arrived this past weekend but I've not done anything with it yet. At least the crank doesn't wobble in the frame like my GH100.
