Thank you for sharing! A fisher hunting a squirrel on a tree. Pretty sure this happens every day in the wild but now we get witness it. Awesome behavior from the fisher, its movement was so smooth and agile. It looked like the squirrel could do that all day.

Except that isn't a fischer, it's a marten. And yes a main source of martens diet are squirrels. Fischers will hunt squirrels as well but being much bigger than martens, they hunt larger prey like porcupines.

@@snappingbear I don’t know too much of a difference expected that the Fisher is a lot larger and Marten are smaller. I do think that this is a Fisher because it look too big to be a Marten. It has a bulky head and large body. I could be wrong.

Hey Here their know as Pine Martins a Fisher looks similar but is almost 3 times larger. Just a FYI. Cheers

It’s not a cat. A fisher is part of the weasel(mustelid) family. That includes: weasels, otters, ferrets, Martin, wolverines.

That is no cat. Squirrels have predators other than a domestic cat. This area obviously boarders a wild area. A Fisher or another predator is stalking this squirrel. Note range of predators is known and mapped just like wild birds. Based on sightings. You could look up if predators of squirrels live in your area. Note these predators are not to be messed with. Consult your local or state Wildlife expert on how to discourage them where you live. They bite. Note if bitten consult local health hospital or Health Centers. Photo the animal.

That is a marten, not a fisher. Fischers are twice that size.

hmmm no. the tail tapers towards the end whereas martens tails are more fluffy and blunt at the end. also, female fishers are smaller than males, so its quite possible for this to be a fisher. and yaknow. animals grow

@@CaptainLightner Spoken like someone that has never seen a fisher or a martin. BTW even female fishers are much larger than martins, there is no overlap. Your comment that we can distinguish the species by the fluffiness of their tails is laughable.
