Fisher & Paykel GW612 Not rincing & spinning part 1

Error/Fault code 00000101. (The value is 5.)
It wasnt draining the water out at the rince cycle. I saw comments on fixya.com that others with the same problem found clothing between the outer bowel & the inner bowel or an item such as a necklace chain or hairclip jamming up the propeller.....

I just fixed this F&P GW612. There was a darning needle stuck in the drain motor pump stopping the propeller from spinning around. I fixed it for my mum by watching a couple of You Tube videos. Easy job to do. Took me about 1.5 hours including drawing out the water from the drum with a bucket & jug first. Lay the machine on a soft mat, remove the motor pump from underneath, clean it out. (You could find a foreign object such as a coin, cloth, rubber band etc.)
Put it back together & test if it's pumping out water at the rince cycle by doing a low water wash cycle. So happy, job done & I saved my mum some money!!

Thanks for posting and the great comments section. I just completed the repair on own Fisher & Paykel. The symptoms were the same. In my case I removed the pump (a zero tool operation) I found my daughter’s gold chain wrapped around the pump shaft. I pulled the chain out and freed the pump and we’re all fixed. Thank you.

thanks, fixed my f&p today.... couldn't siphon because the hose was blocked, had to scoop as much out as possible then I just tipped the washing machine out the door (front side down). Pump was full of lint, cotton strands and a stick.

I had this exact code. Turned out a mouse had moved into the washer when it had gone unused a few months (had noticed an odor but thought it was just old laundry lint after sitting a long time), then subsequently got sucked into the drain on the outer tub. Error every time it tried to drain. I removed the inner tub (really simple) and cleaned out everything. All good now.

Tip....If it happens again, and the hose isn't blocked, drop the drain hose into a bucket and it should siphon all the water out which is much much quicker than using a jug.

Big credit to you Chrissy Watkins for this video which lead me to your comment which was very helpful. Just fixed my f&p. Took pump off, had a hair pin and cotton threads stuck inside the hole. Chucked the pump back on plugged it up bobs your uncle lol Thanks a million 😁 GOD IS GOOD💯💯

My F n P is a model WA-7560E1. Ny problem is it washes n drains but does not rinse n spin. What appeared in the windiw is "LID LOCK". We also noticed that the agitator is also locked. Please can anyone help?

HskHeroReborn Cool. I like that F&P are easy to learn how to fix on your own. It's a matter of understanding how to read error codes & do diagnostic checks so you can identify the problem. I own a Fisher & Paykel MW511 & it had error 56 (not spinning or draining water) in 2014. We did a small soldering job on the motherboard, only cost 50c for 2 pk of 1 meg Ohm resister (only needed to use one, so was left with a spare) & she's been running smoothly since we fixed it! (I admit, I got a little help from Greg Stephen on Fixya.com) The best feeling is that you save alot of money doing it yourself (Girls can do anything 😆 Lol)

Did you get it fixed? If not, read the descrition & comments from others and you will see that there could be something stuck in the drain pump. Once you clear it out it should start draining & spinning again.

Hi I cant remember from memory. But there should be a cover & it that you can remover. Every model is different. Could try to find a video/ diagram of the motor pump itself. Is your model the same? GW612?

Cindy Heaslet I'm not sure what you mean by 'reset'. Is it beeping with only some lights on? Below is an explanation of what you need to do to find out your error diagnostic......this is how I fixed mine in 2014 & it's still going (2017)......so below is an old post about how I got a MW511 error diagnostic.......You need to find your model number as a first step.....of course your problem will be different, but this gives you an idea of what to do. All the best. "Fisher & Paykel MW511; error 56 diagnostic" We fixed our Fisher & Paykel washing machine! Now we don't have to go out & buy a new one! It is well worth fixing yours to save money!!! (After 3 months of it being faulty.) I did ALOT of research. I learnt how to run a diagnostic on it. First you must find out what the model number is. (Its found on the top, back on the left behind the control panel). Then google your model to find out what series & phase it is- Our model MW511 is series 11 phase 6. You can find Installation, User, Parts & Diagnostic code manuals on www.jordansmanuals.com for free download. If your washer is beeping 1 beep every second half way through a wash cycle, then it's telling you that there is a fault. To diagnose the fault you must write down which wash cycle lights are on & which lights are off, using a binary code, from left to right. (0 for off, 1 for on) Our 8 wash cycle lights were, from left to right: off, off, on, on, on, off, off, off. So lights 3,4,5 were on. So the binary code is 00111000. (0 for off, 1 for on) (If your washer is on at the wall & off on the machine, you can find the diagnostic by holding down the wash temp down button & pressing the power button at the same time. Then the wash lights that come on will tell you what the error/fault is) Then you can write down your binary code. (Next you add up the values to get the error code) So, the 8 washer lights each have a value - from left to right the 8 washer light values are: 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1 (for our model MW511) Then for all the lights that are on you add up the values to get your Error Code: our machine was (00111000) which is 32+16+8 which = 56 So our error code was 56. This is " A bowl Check". ( see the diagnostic codes manual) to fix the problem. I went to fixya.com & found others with the same problem. A technician named Greg Stephen gave some advice & recommend that we replace the 3x 332k resistors with a 1 meg Ohm resister. So we brought a 2 pk of 1 meg Ohm resistors from Jay Car which only cost us 50 cents & we soldered the repair on the motor controller (under the contol panel) & now it's working perfectly! ! (NOTE: If you carry a circuit board across carpet, you must wrap it in tin foil so that static electricity doesn't short circuit the circuit board) This is the repair that we made in the photo below. The one on the left is "before" & the one on the right is "after". This was posted on www.fixya.com by technician Greg Stephen who I highly reccommend if you need advice on how to fix something. We are so stoked that we only spent 50 cents on this repair & saved $800+!!!

Thank you for the information that you posted here. Our Fisher Paykel washer would not go into rinse and spin. From your video and one by Gary Beelitz kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXmrmnufqq6cacU explaining how to remove,clean and refit the pump I was able to make this repair. Though I was a little unsure of tackling this job, you and the $600 cost of a new washer gave me the inspiration to try fixing the machine. When I got the pump out it had a Shout Color Catcher sheet hung in it. I removed it and cleaned the pump, refitted it and now it is working fine. We have been using this Fisher Paykel for eight years and other than a problem with the plastic top cover cracking, we have had great performance.
