To be honest, recreational fishing like that really doesn't serve a purpose other than self entertainment, and yes at the "wild life's" expense. That said, I don't have a problem with it, but do recognize its largely a pointless act based on entertainment. Eating the wild life on the other hand has a more natural purpose. It is what it is.

its not pointless its extremely beneficial for mental health, something alot of people seem to obviously be lacking in. not to mention its a good way to get out invasive species, i had a river i fished at for two years catching and releasing lots of natives but also got out over 200 invasive tilapia and carp. atleast until a bunch of karens complained to the council and got the place turned into a no fishing zone, now the tilapia have no predators, will outbreed the natives and NO ONE will be there to do anything about it because the council doesnt employ people to catch invasives and fisheries and wildlife dont have the manpower either, i had actually had fisheries called on me there one time and they thanked me for my hard work apologized that there was nothing they could do if council made it no fishing and that they wouldnt fine me for doing the right thing but that the council could still fine me if they were called instead. this countries fallen to shit because no one wants to stand up for freedoms we once had, people literally think theres no benefit to a recreational activity. smdh.

You think only companies practice over fishing? Communities easily overfish. Same goes for hunting. Its not controlled when you are casually going out hunting and fishing for food in the wild. That is a cause on how species go extinct. If we grow our own food seperate from the wilderness its much easier to predict what we are doing to the population. Hunting makes everything worse for wildlife when we are already destroying their habitats, emitting pollution, etc.

Earth Chan, I fully understand the human body has evolved to consume small amounts of meat. The reason we adapted to eating meat was mostly for small animals and insects so when we could not find enough vegetables or fruits we could get sustenance so we would not starve. That was generally only a reality for humans not living in warm climates like indigenous peoples in far northern climates. The other reason society says we should eat meat is vitamin B12 which is generally only found in meat or mushrooms but the reality is that we barely absorb B12 from meat and it would take a lot of mushrooms to get a good amount of B12 so any human will need vitamins to intake B12 properly. Also go to know is, animals get there B12 from soil on vegetables or fruit which human can get as well but we have polluted the worlds ecosystem so heavily that most our vegetables and fruits have to be washed, thus making it hard for us to absorb that natural B12.
