Sadly this lake and surrounding property have been sold to a private developer for over 100 million dollars and will no longer be accessible to the public for fishing, camping, hiking or any other outdoor activities inside what once was a Texas State Park.

A few days ago, State Rep. Angelia Orr filed a bill while the Texas State Legislature is in session that would claim eminent domain of the property on which Fairfield Lake State Park lies. The land owner would be compensated fair market value for the land.

Going to miss Lake Fairfield. My folks live in that town, and I've fished it my whole life. My dad has been on the lake every day for the last week. Tomorrow is going to be a sad day. There are some big ole bass in there if you know where to look.

Sad deal about Fairfield I used to fish it often years ago, haven’t been in a while but it was an awesome state park and lake combo. Really enjoy your vids glad to see you still do the old school camp and fish keeping it OG.

Hate to see old parks shut down. I find it really odd how the state leases an area for 50+ years and build parks on it. What do they expect to happen at the end of the lease? They just hope that they're offered a renewal? Was their whole plan just to temporarily have a park? It just seems so odd to me.

No one's buying the lake, at least not from the state. It's never belonged to the state. It was being leased by the state. The owners have sold it to a real estate developer. So if you're going to be upset, be upset with the government that spent millions of dollars to improve a private property. 72 million since 1976. Oh, by the way, there's a few others in the same situation.

Theirs little to NO public land as it is in Texas let alone leased land to be just be selling it off like their a dime a dozen 🤷 sucks for the people of Texas! Most everything here is owned by the state unless it's just raw hunting land. If it's campgrounds and public facilities it's owned by the state mostly. Hopefully they'll allow some permits to be sold and still allow some fishing and camping. Would be a complete waste to just bulldoze everything.

Love your vids LFG! I got a tip for your jerkbait….try to jerk twice in a row fast before you pause….watch the action with one jerk compared to two real quick. You will get a darting action.
