Tom, I grew up in a small city a few hundred miles upriver from where you are fishing and as a kid witnessed sandbars build and at other times watched them disappear. She has a wicked current cannot be trusted to even the strongest of swimmers. I miss that river and cherish the memories of fun times exploring and fishing along her banks. If you think those carp pull hard in that current, try retrieving a paddle fish or sturgeon. You'll be having sweatballs dripping from the tip of your nose. lol! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your memories of that river. Haha, yeah there are definitely some monsters in there that would give me a workout!

Only one good thing that can be said for those cockleburrs is that they gave the inventor the concept for Velcro. Thanks for letting me tag along

That looked like a lot of fun! I have very little experience on rivers. Didn't realize what a massive difference it made!
@OutsidewithTom19 күн бұрын
Yeah, the swift current on this river makes for a very different fishing experience compared to lakes!

It was worth the bike ride. You caught some nice fish. Over here I fish rivers a lot and you always get a good fight. The fish know how to use the current. Thanks for sharing it looked a real.nice place to spend a few hours

I’ve been wanting to watch you fish for carp on a big river. As you know and discussed about the sand bar disappearing, you can never step into the same river twice. I’ve been learning a lot from you. Looks like you might be in my neck of the woods. I love that river. It’s a wilderness of its own and every trip is an adventure. At times, it seems to have its own weather, and the environment is very challenging. But that’s what I love about it. I hope you might do a few more fishing episodes on that River. You will not regret it. I’ve been carp fishing on it for a year now, but I have fished it for catfish many years. I had a lot of great adventures out there. I’m going out tomorrow in fact. Can’t wait.

Yep, that river is a powerful force indeed. I definitely want to do more fishing there, finding access is the biggest challenge. Glad you enjoy the videos, thanks!

I’ve been squeezing the last few weekends out of blue crab season, then switched to clams before it gets too cold for that, too. I’d like to get a little fall carp fishing in, though!
@OutsidewithTom18 күн бұрын
That sounds interesting, I've never fished for crabs or clams.

Hey Tom - nice peaceful spot to fish. Having to live vicariously thru you lately. No rain here in MD has made fishing poor as the water levels in local lakes are very low and spots I normally fish are just to low. Caught one fish in last 3 weeks - give it another shot at a different lake then not sure what to do until it rains.
@OutsidewithTom18 күн бұрын
If it makes you feel any better, I haven't caught a carp in 3 weeks either. This video was filmed back in September. Thanks for watching.

Have you thought about adding a clock to the video so we all can see how long between catches?
@OutsidewithTom19 күн бұрын
Interesting idea. I think would be a lot of extra work on the editing side of things, unfortunately. I usually try to say in the video what time I'm starting, how long between bites, etc. Mabye I'll try to do that more often. Thanks for watching.

Man those ebikes are awesome, the amount of areas I could access and videos I could make with one lol, if any of those companies are looking for small channels just getting started that would promote the crap out of thier bike, send them my way please lol
@OutsidewithTom18 күн бұрын
Yep, ebikes are pretty neat. It only took me 5 years and 350+ KZbin videos to get one for free.

please could you explain how you set your lines, i'm very new to carp fishing. I've got some bells same as your's but not sure how to use them with the stands? End up with them on the rod tip and they fly off during a cast
@OutsidewithTom18 күн бұрын
My bells are clipped to the bank sticks and that's where they stay.

Do you ever consider using cage feeders when fishing in current? Otherwise your pack bait can get washed away quickly.
@OutsidewithTom9 күн бұрын
i just pack the bait on harder when fishing current. Works pretty good for me.
@kapataunporter19 күн бұрын
are you planning to use underwater camera on the river? really curious about what happens to the packbait in the current
@OutsidewithTom19 күн бұрын
Probably not, as the current would just move the camera around constantly. That would be cool to see though.
@kapataunporter19 күн бұрын
@OutsidewithTom it would be really cool. cheers for the great vid!

I have yet to catch a "fat" catfish in the river by my parents house. They use all that excess body weight to stay alive and kicking.
@OutsidewithTom19 күн бұрын
Yeah, river life is definitely a different world for the fish compared to still water.

Does he loosen he drag all the way
@pastmasters959119 күн бұрын
His reel has a drag switch. Once a fish is on he just flips the switch
@OutsidewithTom19 күн бұрын
My reel has 2 drags. One is loose and lets the fish run, and then I switch to the other drag to fight the fish.
