Hey, do you have any problems with the stabilizer bar rusting
@mdirtbike3 жыл бұрын
What stabilizer
@lazyyan29183 жыл бұрын
@@mdirtbike thank you for replying, the stabilizer bar is the little silver bar that the line guide rides on. I took this reel to catch rock fish off a jetty and on the fourth trip I noticed it was starting to rust.
@mdirtbike3 жыл бұрын
@@lazyyan2918 no mines clean no rust, i would contact shimano. Are you rinsing your reels off with freshwater after every trip? Salt kills reels
@lazyyan29183 жыл бұрын
@@mdirtbike I do rinse my baitcasters lightly with a jet of water. Either my reel is faulty or i need to rinse harder but i have fished shimano my entire life and i have never seen a reel rust this fast.

Nice catch! How much max drag for the Tranx you were using?
@alvinyu75294 жыл бұрын
What is your line set up bro? Going there next week do full day. Hope I can catch something. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
@mdirtbike4 жыл бұрын
Alvin Yu the tranx400hg only does about 18lbs at max drag, I probably only used about 7-8lbs of drag idk exact numbers. I was running 40lb daiwa j-braid on that reel with a short 30lb flourocarbon leader.

How does the tranx 400 compare to the 500 aand other reels like the Abu garcia and spinning reels you see used on that boat. What are the advantages?
@mdirtbike4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Wimmer the tranx500 is bigger, has more drag and line capacity, but it is a bit heavy and bulky. The 400 is a great all around reel for throwing jigs-swimbaits- hookup baits-whatever. It really depends on what you’re targeting. I own both the 400 and 500 and would definitely recommend either of them. As far as spinning reels- if you like fishing them, then fish them. Baitcast reels eliminate line twist and a sore pointer finger if casting big jigs all day.

Thinking about getting the same setup. How do you like the xfast tip? Keeps the fish pinned? Will that same rod work for live bait also?

ILGNR2 Phenix makes great rods, I would fish something a little heavier for live bait, the yellows were small that trip so that m1 rod kicked ass

Get your LH reel then you don't have to worry about switching hand. You might accidentally drop that rod in the water. I don't understand the concept of casting then switching hand. I don't really...
@Briguy10275 жыл бұрын
Most saltwater people use a righthanded retrieve reels. They're used to casting righthanded and then switching hands. I started on spinning gear and my copied my Dad casting, with his right hand, and then retrieving lefthanded. Now when I use conventional gear I actually prefer doing it as you say, cast on my right and retrieve lefthanded, which works fine for me since I'm a natural lefty. I just have to thank my Dad for teaching me to cast righthanded, heh.
