Fishing at Barkley Meadows in Austin

Just past Austin Airport is Barkley Meadows Park, Onion Creek runs through and some spots are accessible but others are tough to get to. I had to go trough lots of poison ivy and brush just to get to some areas, not really worth it in the end. Maybe during spring and summer when the fish are back.

Keep your eye on those rocks too, arrowheads are very common

That first fish is a Guadalupe Bass. They are awesome little fighters -- and they don't get anywhere near as big as a regular large mouth, so that was actually a pretty nice one. State record is under 4 lbs.

+Jason Saldana Thanks for letting me know, i just started fishing and still trying to recognize all the different types there are. Maybe i should invest in a little scale for the larger fish.

Do you need a fishing license?

Roberto Trejo in Texas you do. walmart, academy, or a State Park can issue a license. Also in State Parks like McKinney Falls or Bastrop fishing is free, just pay to get in.

Also i have my just in case, but over 2 years of fishing and havent seen a Ranger. better to have it then get a ticket that cost more than a license.
