I fish berry head all the time, so very interesting to see this video. I had a similar thing happen. Was using a slosh 20, 30lb mono, whole mackerel head. Completely quiet, no bites for an hour and then some small tippy tappys. Pulled into the bite and felt the initial pulling for 2/3 secs (you could tell it was a monster from the head shakes) then it just started taking line (also fully locked up drag) and after 10 seconds took me into a snag Convinced that there are some monsters lurking there, as the depth of water there is much deeper than anywhere else for miles. Also have lost a double figure bull Huss on the surface there that fought like an absolute beast, it snapped my 30lb snood to the hook. Definitely using heavy mono/ wire from now on lol

I am glad it’s not just me mate, I am definitely going down again, armed with wire trace, I was using 150lb mono trace, the head shakes felt like a eel but not sure, I have spoken to a few people about it and said it could of been a tope but will never know, I think I will be fishing it abit more :)

@@Mallensfishingadventures mate I have been back out there tonight, and got smashed by an absolute monster. Managed to get it out of the bottom but it did a run…fully locked up drag on a 8000 size spinning reel and was screaming line…swam right underneath the platform in the end and cut my 90lb braid off, literally the biggest fish I have ever hooked into, couldn’t do a thing but just hold on for dear life 🤣🤣 I honestly have no idea what it is, but would’ve been a lifetime PB, gutted 🤣🤣

I reckon it was a big conger, I've never seen a fish strip line like that

I'd be very shocked if they were trawling, probably just returning to brixham, but then again nothing surprises me these days

The video didn’t show it but at least two of the trawlers that went past had there nets down still and I know one of them was going around the bay with the nets down. Like I said I know they got to make a living and with today’s living but yeah I do think there should be a law in how close they can fish but that’s just my opinion.
