Hi, I'm a 66 y/o retired nurse who loves to fish and cook and eats Atkins' low carb. I love your channel. Even my girlfriend who hates all fishing and eating fish loves your channel. When my other girlfriend and I would go fishing, our DHs would go shopping. WTF!!! . We all love your channel and wish our DHs were a bit more like you. But, I am finally, after 45 years, getting my DH into fishing - yeah!!! Keep the vids coming.

@@Juanelo1946 Yes, we just bought a used Kingfisher 15'6" fishing boat. It's lake ready and has both 70 hp motor and a trolling motor and live well. Have had it out a couple of times already. The darn thing is, now that DH is fishing, he's not only catching more than me, but the biggest ones too!! We fish for sunfish, crappie, bass and catfish. They are all plentiful in Lake Palestine where we live in northeast Texas. We watch your videos just about every day. Taught lines and blue skies my friend.

Hi 77! I dont think there is such a thing as fish Jambalaya! LOL! You, being from Baton Rouge, would know best! But I found a low carb recipe with chicken and shrimp. I know a ty guy you have a ty man, hey i even know how to tie one of those things lmao!! You have poerfected the fish sink flip! It could be a dance! If only I could fit in the sink! You know that rain you had awhile back? Now it's coming this way! We are supposed to get rain next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! That sucks! Work might be called off!!! I'll have to find other things to do!! That fake rice is awesome!! I did everything with it back in the day!! put it in burritos, soups, made Spanish rice, fried rice, sueshi You can do anything with it! Tastes good too!!! That jambalaya really did look like a fragrant, beautiful bouquet of flavor, great job tyman!! And compliments to the chef of course!! Since you have had Miss LuLu on the line for so long maybe it's time to wow her with a bobber (bauble) lol ;p
@Juanelo1946
@Juanelo1946 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ty! You're the original Ty! The one and only Ty guy! I have to try to see how high you can flip the fish skin and still land it in the sink. It becomes a game of skill that I often lose. 😆 Yes, it does sound like a new dance, the fish sink flip! Haha! Yes, the rain here has been a daily event, relentless rain; and more is coming. I sure hope you don't get anything near what we've been getting! You need to keep working, and making lots of mullah! Of course rain days have some advantages for you, don't they? I bet they do! • Oh yeah, the bogus rice! It was great this way, roasted in the oven. But you know all ways of making it. I'd love to know how exactly you made sushi with it. Your "rice" came out so white! Cream cheese is added to it for sure, but after that, I dunno what you did. • This jambalaya was awesome, I have to humbly admit. Out of hundreds of recipes I've tried over the years, this one is at or very near the top of the list. Ty man pointed the way, and I just fiddled with the recipe a bit to eliminate the chicken thighs and instead load it up with fish. • I don't think Ms. Lulu would be impressed much with my bobbers, but she might like a bauble, a diamond bauble might do the trick! 😉 Thanks a million my good son for visiting us here by the lake. Thanks especially for your great comment! I wish you all the best for a great rest-of-the-week, and a super fun weekend!

Whew...I was holding my breath when you were leaning over the side of your boat wrestling that 3-pounder! I was hoping he wouldn't pull you overboard! What a day of fishing extremes: either too small or too large! Hmmm...I hope your neighbor's runoff doesn't introduce unwanted chemicals into your lake. That jambalaya looked wonderful. I love one-pot style meals. Obviously Miss lulu enjoyed it, too. Wasn't that sweet of her to be so supportive of you getting married? Once you find the "right one", of course. LOL Thank you, Juanelo. Hi Stef! I wasn't that close to the tipping point that I would have fallen in the lake, although it may have looked like it! 😁 This day I caught more little bass than I could shake a stick at, or show on the video! I know the neighbor will use fertilizer but, I doubt that he'll use any harmful chemicals. All the farms around me have little ponds with healthy fish in them. The worst effect will be a larger than desirable bloom of algae. It's the condition that I had 32 years ago when my former neighbor tilled the land for soy beans. But the bass were huge then! It might actually help the fishing. This Jambalaya was one of the best recipes I was lucky enough to stumble upon. I can't wait to make it again. Hahaha! Next week I'll try to convince Ms. Lulu that she's the right one! 😊 But you know how that is likely to go! Thanks a million for checking in and for the good words my dear friend!

Thanks for understanding I meant that wrestling comment to be humorous! Sounds like lake management takes considerable tweaking. Are those oriental catfish still a problem? (I 'think' they were catfish...maybe carp???). I marvel at the number of fish dishes you're shared over the years...You know the British are said to eat kippers at breakfast. Have you any fishy breakfast dishes? (:
@Juanelo1946
@Juanelo1946 5 жыл бұрын
So many people have been asking about the Asian grass carp problem that I composed a reply two months ago that goes like this: "The problem is now solved. An expert bow hunter took out over a dozen grass crap in a period of three years. Also, natural mortality has finally taken its toll. I've spotted several dead grass carp over the years. The past two summers, weeds have returned and grass carp are hard to find. I'm very pleased!" As for breakfast, I haven't had breakfast since we took my mother in law out for brunch on Mother's Day, 1987! LOL! I eat like a wolf, one meal a day, dinner! I would like to try kippers some day. I've had smoked herring at the deli a couple of times. Are they the same? Oh one more thing: I finally tried breading and frying fish egg sacks. You started that notion in my mind. They were DELICIOUS! They were milder than oysters but had more flavor than fish. Hard to describe, but very, very good! Thank you for bring them to my attention. Have a grease splash screen ready when frying them in oil though! 😆
@lemoncrinckles
@lemoncrinckles 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah! We always loved those roe sacks. My Mom bought big old carps at G C Murphy's years ago. She simmered them in...I don't recall...maybe beer? You can imagine how much roe a big carp has to offer. I don't know about kippers. I thought they were more like a freshly fried sardine. Have you ever had marinated herring and onion? Boy, is my German showing! LOL You don't need to answer. I get too chatty sometimes. Have a good night! (: @@Juanelo1946

Another delicious looking meal. Very little was bighting today except channel catfish. About 300 six inch long wild type channel catfish from the state hatchery went in during November of 2016. I put in an additional 400 channel catfish bread for commercial meat production from a private fish hatchery. These fish have some blue catfish in them to make them grow faster and bigger and to have milder better tasting meat. Boy! There is a big difference in the size of the catfish in the lake. As you can tell from the link. The first catfish I caught was double the size of the second one and at least a third larger than the third catfish. I'm beginning to get a fair number of bights from catfish that are simply too big for my ultralight tackle for bluegill to land. Of the three fish that I caught today, it was the big one that still looked the most like a juvenile. That's going to be a huge fish. My guess is that it just has to be one of the meat production fish from the commercial hatchery. Unfortunately KZbin does not seem to let us link fb photos anymore.

I've been thinking of trying a "jambalaya" type of dish. Never had one. You've inspired me! I think I'd even prefer the "redefined rice fragments" to the real thing. I must admit when you pulled that giant fish out of the water I was terrified that it might be you who was dinner tonight. Thankfully you were able to control the beast and send him on his way before we witnessed the first "fish eating man" video on YT. (Although, I'm pretty sure that most likely has already happened. But I'm not going to search for it.) Ms. Lulu is warming up to you John! At least she wished you well in your quest for marriage!

Hi Terry! I was very lucky to stumble upon this Jambalaya recipe! The original one didn't even include fish, but the fish worked out great! In fact, I can't wait to make this again! The bogus "rice fragments" were just as tasty as real deal! This was one of those crazy fishing days where I couldn't catch the smaller ones that I needed for the recipe. I had to resort to fishing for bluegill to fill the void. I was in no danger from that big beast I brought in the boat with me, even though I could put my whole head in his mouth! 😜 You're right! Everything that ever could happen, has happened, on KZbin! Haha, I know Mrs. Lulu is warming up to me. I am cooking up more ideas to win her heart! Hi Brenda! We've had jambalaya only a few times in our lives ourselves. I'm always getting it mixed up with gumbo. But this is more like paella, and not soupy like gumbo. Honestly, it is one of the best recipes I was ever fortunate enough to adapt to my fish! 😋 I really don't know much about farming but I suspect the water will clear up. What I think will happen is that I get more algae floating on it because he'll probably use fertilizer and that will runoff too. Ms. Lulu and I sometimes can't keep a straight face during these silly skits! LOL! Thanks very much for looking at this video and for leaving the great comment my dear friend! Hi Diego! Hahaha, you know they aren't my favorite fish. But you'll note that I filleted and froze this one. I plan on using it for crappie cakes some day! LOL! Thanks a million for checking in and for the good words my friend!

🤔I’m thinking if you would’ve taken a selfie with that “28 lb” bass, then you would’ve won Ms. Lulu over! Thanks for posting! I really enjoy seeing your videos!

Hi Stan! Hahaha! I know Ms. Lulu pretty well. She isn't like us guys. She would ask, "hmmm, is 28 pounds big?" LOL! But there must be something like that I can do to impress her... Let's keep thinking! Thanks a million for checking in and for the good words my friend!

Hello! I saw a video with a kitchen tool called the Veggetti and it’s a little device to make low carb spaghetti with veggies like zucchini, carrots...etc. Didn’t know if you had one or not, but Amazon has them for about $10. Have a good night!

Hi Stan! Yes, I've heard of the Veggetti. I' have what's called a "Spiralizer" to make "noodles" out of zucchini, carrots, and many items. It looks almost identical to this one on amazon: www.amazon.com/Brieftons-Spiralizer-BR-5B-02-Strongest-Heaviest/dp/B01MSZE4YK/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=spiralizer&qid=1560995807&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1. I've featured it a few times in my videos, like this time here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iamViGClra58ea8. Thanks so much for thinking of me and for great suggestion my friend!

Hi Marty! About a month ago, it rained most of the day, so I shot some clips of me trying to fish from the boathouse. The water is 2 feet deep inside there. It's very difficult to catch a fish inside, I've tried it. The fish under the boathouse are almost all very small. Thanks a million for checking in and for the good words my friend!

Wow! That was a nice fish. If she wasn’t all spawned out she would have to be at least a five.

Hi FSC! I never thought of that! The spawn for bass was over by this point, so maybe the fish would have been much heavier. Good point! Thanks a million for checking in and for the good words my friend!

Love and hate your videos 😁😁. Love the fishing and the recipes, and one day you will catch Miss Lulu's heart. But its Sunday, and that means back to the grind. Keep the videos coming, and a 3lber is still a nice fish...one day, you'll pull a 10lber

Hi Nugg (T Outdoors)! I would love to make a po' boy sandwich! The problem is those big sub sandwich rolls are loaded with carbs. I did an oyster po' boy video several years ago using a low-carb wrap. It turned out good! I'll look into making some sort of po' boy again. Thanks very much for looking at this video and for leaving the nice comment my friend!
