Great videos guys. It's always fun watching bass being caught no matter how. Which gets me to my point. I can't stand how people on here are tryin to tell you what rod/reel to use and which method to use to catch them and whether its too easy or not. Who gives a sh!t! Fishin is fun no matter how you catch them or what you use. Yea, its a challenge and the rewards are great when you work a plastic worm just right over logs or brush and you land a bass. I get it but, I'd rather catch em like this over a difficult river, stream or state lake rather than end up not catchn anything at all. Some people dont have that access or a boat. Either way, a bad day fishing is still a great day in the end. Keep the videos coming guys. Good luck to all the fisherman here!

That's more like catching or like when people go to stocked lakes and say I caught a monster. Because yes I am saying they cheated so anyone who disagrees can sick a cock
@MotoAtheist9 жыл бұрын
airwaylocal440 It looks they are using somewhat lighter gear. I think that is the point. When you have such an easy go of it due to a small pond and large stock of bass, you would want to use an ultralight type setup and go for the longer fight. Maybe even a fly rod. Put some challenge in to it, otherwise it's pretty lame just yanking them in in every time. What bait used is irrelevant though. If they have something that works, that's all that matters. I wouldn't see much point in using 12lb test on a heavy rod and yanking each bass in 10 seconds. It's not like if you lose a bass, you won't catch another. Unlike being on a big lake, where you don't want to lose the ones you manage to find. The finding aspect is gone with a small pond, you already know where they are. So, it's strictly about the fight.

hey just as some advice, next time you guys head out make sure when you catch a bass that you dont let them touch the ground a lot. They have protective film that is vital to their survival and when you drag them on the grass, the film will come off, leaving them to diseases. Other than that nice video!

SavvyNavy you are correct sir! And love your "dont tread on me pic. Im an avid gun owner myself and am in 2 III% groups and a militia. Creek Fishers I know alot about bass and fish bass tournaments. Like savvy navy said, the bass have a protective slime/film coating that protects them from bacteria and diseases. Crucial for their survival. I know sometimes it will happen but try your best to not let them touch the ground. It will allow for bigger and better bass fishing in the future! Have fun boys!

@theunluckyfisherman484510 жыл бұрын
good video. I think that fish was some sort of dace, if you google it you can find a list and pictures of all the different variations of dace. You guys should try using big circle hooks for live bait like that, you wont lose as many fish. Also if you use the circle hook, hook the chub through the eyes, and just wait a second longer before setting the hook. Youll get better hooksets and lose less chubs this way. Good fishing!

@creekfishers27399 жыл бұрын
+Michael Link i try to take a very small piece of worm and run the hook along the inside and poke out the end. the biggest things in my opinion are having a small enough hook, and putting the worm as close to the point as possible
@IowaLayoutman10 жыл бұрын
If you are wanting to catch and release a healthy fish please don't drag them out on the ground. All that does is remove the slime coat, which in turn increases the chance for the fish to get a fatal infection. They are slimey for a reason. Nice video thanks for the upload. What do you use in your minnow traps for bait? When I was a kid we always used dog food. We also used bread to catch our creek chubs using a #22 mustad hook which is TINY.

We Dace here in Indiana. I catch them around the dams here. We refer to them as a "Stickleback". Pretty rare to catch anything with them. That HUGE fin on their back is full of needle points. If they get ate, it stands straight up, as it did when you handled it. It then like gets lodged in the fishes mouth, throat, & the bigger fish spits it back out. Great design for survival. I " think" its also known as a Pickerel here too. Not sure. Great video guys!

How did you get the minnows from that one spot and why did you decide to do that. Where I live I don't know where to find a spot like that but their is a creek that I could probably use if it has fish but I don't know if it does I might need to try it should I. And what should I use for it.
@creekfishers27399 жыл бұрын
I grew up playing in the creek as a kid, but the method I would go by is walking the creek with a rod and some bait and looking for deep wife holes with slow moving water. Throw in a but of worm and see if you get any bites. Almost every small creek has some minnow life to it. I would say a good rule of thumb would be if the creek reaches 3 feet deep and 5 feet wide it would almost have to have chubs or other minnows inside it. If not there's always crawfish if the bottom is rocky and less muddy

All these hate comments is simply because experienced bass fishermen don't like using live bait. That takes the skill completely away from the sport. You don't get respected as a fisherman by throwing live bait in front of a hungry fish in a small, unfished, stocked pond. Fishing in an actual lake with actual lures is much more rewarding and takes actual skill.

check this video out /watch?v=-HsFwcXY9g8 this guy lands a sturgeon on a smaller rod and lighter line than i have. I've caught 10 pound carp with this pole, it's all in how you play your drag. I like using a micro rod because its just easier to carry around with you and it really puts fun into a fight with any size of fish
@jakedassan411710 жыл бұрын
He's right. You can catch 20 pounders on 6 pound test if you are good.

yes but i am talking about the rod. you can be lucky but the odds are, if you kep pushing it, it will break
@theunluckyfisherman484510 жыл бұрын
matt atherton Naw it wont, he has his drag set perfectly, so that it'll only bend a certain amount before the fish gets some line to run with. That's the whole point of fishing light, is to have a long fight and let the fish run. His setup is fine for this.
