Freeze them in water, fill a sandwich bag with fish fillets, add water and then as you're sealing the bad squeeze out all the air until just water is coming over the seal area and complete the seal. No water at all and frozen suspended in ice. I use to vacuum pack mine but you'll eventually get freezer burn, even when they are vacuum packed. I've seen frozen in water last 10 years. If you catch Lake trout, don't ever freeze them or else they'll taste like crap, unless you smoke them first. Always eat Lakers as soon as you can or smoke them if you want to freeze them. Good example of filleting the bluegill, most people cut short of the head meat but you got it all. How you filleted the gill was exactly how I do it. I'll remove the pin bones on crappie but I normally leave them in on gills unless its a 9 to 10 incher, most 10 inchers go back.

Good info...Thanks for watching...I see to many people wasting alot of good meat when they fillet Bluegill or panfish in general. How long does it usually take to thaw them out when you freeze them with the water with them?

@outdoorbelievin5259 I normally take the frozen bag out and just place it in the sink to thaw. If you want to eat them sooner run water on them. You can speed it up more by tearing the bag off the ice block and focus the water in between the fish pieces. I like to eat pike fresh and not freeze it. For salmon, I vacuum pack or ziplock without water as it is normally consumed sooner or makes it on the smoker. I'll be salmon fishing out of Muskegon this Sunday, there's a bunch of small kings all up and down the coast with some nice cohos showing up.

@@outdoorbelievin5259 I got all mine in 65 FOW. However, I heard the big ones might be offshore in the deeper water. Weather is looking great for Sunday, minimal waves predicted, as of now. The Tournament Trail/333 is in Grand Haven this weekend so avoid that port, unless you want to do the 333! Probably fine to fish out of Grand Haven, it was just be busier than normal.

Should try a fly rod for bedded gills. Floating spiders for surface bites or sinking ants if they aren't hitting that. So much fun on a light weight rod.

We eat rockbass up here and prepare them just like you would a gill or crappie, if the water is really warm mid summer soak them in a little bit of salt water overnight in the fridge the meat firms right back up!

I have had are boat due that ones it was the prop.. it was to much weight on prop.so bad prop hub Or you hit a air pocket it does happen .engine just goes dang near full throttle . Idk. Just get out and use it close to home. Play with it. See how she does. Before Detroit river again. Fish on
