Never heard of a splake before. Looks similar to a brook trout

If i wacky rig a worm i use size 6 baitholder hooks. I put some procure bloodworm or procure trophy trout or trophy bass. You use a size 6 baitholder that way you get the whole bend of the hook into the worm. This way, hook is just below plastic fish commits it gets hooked. I never put tip of hook through the worm fully. Be sure the whole bend of hook is inside the worm. I learned this the hard way i lost a ton of worms not placing hook deep enough into the worm. 😂

Try a small jig head with those gulp minnows. Put a drop of super glue between the head and minnow. Can cast a long way with the 1/8th ounce jig head.

It's like a poor man's Carolina rig. There too much crap on the lakes, ponds, and river beds in my area. I tie my knots very well and make sure I wet the line well. Sadly, Carolina rig breaks off. I've even used heavier line and still a no-go.

@BassNTrout. Brother measure the length and diameter then take a picture you can have a trophy made. That's a trophy tiger 😊

Ok second video of yours I've watched. If you plan on releasing trout, please wet your hands before touching them and you should limit having them out of water for no more than 10 seconds. Trout have a layer of slime that is removed easily when it comes in contact with something dry - this layer protects them from bacteria. The 10 second rule greatly reduces mortality.

Not quite sure I understand what a splake is. If it’s a brook mixed in with a lake Trout, why isn’t he catching lake trout also? Or does the state purposely mix those two fish and then stock the ponds?
@joegrande484811 ай бұрын
It's funny they call that a tiger trout. Honestly, they should call it a leopard trout because of the spots like a leopard. 😊
