FISHING FOR STRIPED BASS OFF THE COAST OF BOSTON | Gale Force Twins
After two full days of bluefin tuna fishing off the coast of Boston it was time to switch gears and spend a day going after the stripers! We have never caught striped bass before and were stoked to get in on the fishing action and learn what it’s all about! We used sabiki rigs to catch our boston mackerels which in my opinion look like baby wahoo. Once we caught our bait we were off to pirate rock to target the stripers! The fishing was hot and they were biting like crazy, with only a handful baits we were able to get it done!

Back in the 1950's, in the Chesapeake Bay we called them "Rock". We used "peeler crabs" or soft shell clams for bait. On the island in the Bay that I lived on we walked down to the shore in the evening and cast out to catch them. Lots of fun.

If you ever get the opportunity to fish for trophy striped bass (or as we call them in md, rockfish) in the Chesapeake Bay Area I highly recommend. Chance to hook in 40+ pounders. On another note absolutely love the videos. You two are a welcome distraction from the craziness in this world and I, as I’m sure others, appreciate it. Keep up the good work!

Those striped bass look just like our Oklahoma striped bass. Our Stiped bass live in Lake Texhoma which is freshwater with a little salt content. Great video!

Getting kinda cold for Stripe Bass, Boston isn’t a bad location though. Should come visit us in Maine next year in July; You’ll love the beaches during the summer and the stripe bass go crazy at the jetty’s and inlets.

18 inch strippers are keepers in our fresh water aqueduct here in Bakersfield California but a limit of 2
