I had never fished grass before until I went to Guntersville for a kayak tourney last year. I had electronics and had no idea where to begin with it. It was indeed overwhelming. I was a bit lost. The amount of it was more than I could conceive. My local highland reservoirs don’t have any significant grass.

Thanx Tyler. All good stuff. When it comes to grass, for me, it's all about some kind of edge. Either a drop off or a top out. For some reason I always get more bites around a patch of topped out grass. Next time you do a grass video, ya gotta mention the swim jig. That's the last hard subsurface bait to get through the thickest grass. After that, it's swimming worms and punching.

Really, when fishing weeds like that, main reason to run the electronics is to keep the boat in deep enough water. some of those backwater weeds go from five to a foot or less quickly. Maybe sidecan or forward facing can show certain pockets& boulders+ the like, but visual cues are better& eye the screen just to keep from running aground.
