always was taught as a kid to use a blood knot but after seeing your videos i can say i will never use the blood knot again! thanks again for your helpful tips mark
@MarkCarp3 жыл бұрын
thanks jamie, yeah the blood knot isn't as good as the palomar or the grinner knot, i used the blood knot myself in my early fishing but i quickly ditched it for these two👍

Just returned to fishing after a decade or so away. I had my first two lost carp, one snapped and the other a knot failure. Always used a blood knot but time for a rethink. Many thanks Mark.
@MarkCarp4 жыл бұрын
thanks andrew, you'll find this knot a lot stronger than a blood knot and you shouldn't lose any more carp due to knot failure if you've switched to the palomar👍
@del69raptorking5 жыл бұрын
Lost three carp recently due to bad knots, so listen up folks and tie a Palomar Knot. Well explained Mark.

Cheers Mark, just starting carp fishing on the bottom so this is the knot I'll be using on my rigs for sure. Really simple but solid
@MarkCarp4 жыл бұрын
thanks andy, you won't go wrong with the palomar knot mate, it's easy to tie and one of the strongest fishing knots there is👍

Can I ask would I use this knot to tie my Korda ready made leadcore hybird to my main line
@MarkCarp2 жыл бұрын
hi mark, is your ready made leader looped at each end?, if it is then yes you can, just tie straight to the loop, an even better method would be the figure 8 loop knot that's on this channel, you can do loop to loop for a quick change of leader/rig👍
@markshepherd-carpycatcher72922 жыл бұрын
Main line no loop but lead-core has one yes
@MarkCarp2 жыл бұрын
@@markshepherd-carpycatcher7292 then yes you're ok with this knot or the fig 8 loop knot, try them both and stick with the one you prefer👍

Thank you so much mark
@MarkCarp2 жыл бұрын
@@markshepherd-carpycatcher7292 try the grinner knot too mark, i personally think the grinner and fig 8 are both easier for tying to a loop of leadcore but all 3 will work well, good luck mate👍

Thanks Mark. You dont like the blood/clinch knot. I've been using this knot for years to tie mainline to swivels and never had it fail. Granted I tend to use mainline around .40 diameter. Last time I had a break was at the figure of 8 knot in 15 lb stripteaze braid on the hooklink rather than the mainline knot on the swivel. I dont fish weedy or snaggy lakes so I rarely have to really pull at a fish - so maybe I rarely encounter a situation where there is too much strain on the blood knot.
@MarkCarp2 жыл бұрын
hi haba, i used the blood knot a lot in my early fishing which was mainly waggler and pole back in the day, at the time i started carp fishing the literature of the day said the palomar and the grinner knot had the very best knot strength and the blood knot was quite poor. it always worked for me but stepping up from roach and crucians to carp i heeded the advice and switched knots. I've no regrets, the palomar and grinner do indeed give better knot strength than the blood knot but i don't think the blood knot would fail much specially with .40 line. as always mate, you use what you know and what you're confident with and i must admit the two knots i prefer have been top notch over the years👍

cheers Danni, I've not fished in Liverpool for a fair few years mate, nash have just released an 'urban banx' video on the Liverpool parks, i think they fished sefton and Stanley park and they both appear to have plenty of fish in them. when i fished in the city i tackled Walton hall park, that always had the bigger fish in👍 calderstones park was always worth a look too👍 if you don't mind paying day ticket rates have a look at brooms cross, it's not cheap but they do have big fish if that's what you're after👍
