Three entangled seal pups rescued in one run! The extent of the suffering caused by the enormous amount of plastic in the ocean is made painfully clear once again.💔😪

Thank you for your kind words! Our efforts are just a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of tonnes of trash entering the world's oceans every year. We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.

Hi all!!! (there have been no glitches with comments for a long time, but this is already the 6th attempt) A terrible wound on the shoulder of the first seal. I trust Tony that everything will be fine with the seal, and with those others who have freed themselves from yet another human criminal stupidity... By the way, an interesting message at the end of the video “only 0.5% of rescued seals have natural entanglement!” I watched almost all the videos, but I don’t remember such entanglements (algae? I can’t even imagine - what else?) Thanks guys for your work! Today is July 19, 2024. This wonderful channel already has 2.04 million subscribers.

At the end of the day, we remove the man-made death trap and let nature take its course 😐 Rehabilitation facilities do not exist in our country, and we are not authorised to transport wildlife. The long drive back to town would anyway stress the animal to death. We see healthy recaptures every single day, proof that seawater acts as a very efficient wound cleaner and that Cape fur seals are extremely resilient animals.

Thank you, as always, for doing this work. Viewers: If you "Like" these videos, as I do, wait a minute before clicking that button. I learned from another viewer that KZbin doesn't count quick "Likes" - they can be done by bots. KZbin rewards content providers using a set of criteria that includes "Likes". I want to make sure that channels like this one get all the credit/funding they deserve. (I have no financial relationship with KZbin.)

They’ve got flippers, their evolutionary version of arms and legs. You can find anatomical diagrams online if you get curious. One of the painful things for me is that we aren’t so very different from other animals, we all “grew up” on the same planet and we’ve a lot in common including sentience, which makes their suffering all the more poignant when we can understand some what they’re feeling. We’re all tied together so what happens to wildlife, will happen to us. OCN has taught me, too.

O derin yaraları geçer mi acaba ?
@OceanConservationNamibia5 ай бұрын

@OceanConservationNamibia5 ай бұрын

Sometimes I just can’t help but get really angry that beautiful innocent animals are suffering day after day because of ignorant mans actions . How bad does it have to get until the powers that be actually do something constructive? Do we have to lose every animal in the Oceans before they take a firm stance on this ? Why is this not being taken more seriously by those we hold accountable ? This isn’t a new problem pollution in our Oceans from rubbish , plastics and now just about every man made object you can think of has been going on for decades and decades only now because of good people like this that go out on a limb to help those animals that would otherwise perish strangled and entangled in things that should never ever be in Ocean do we really get to see the real extent of how mans indifference to what his actions are causing are really having devastating effects on every Ocean Mammal . I don’t have the answers I wish I did to just how we tackle our Oceans being used as a dumping ground but I do know that something has to be done and quick . Current actions to clean up the Oceans are not enough we need to educate those that think that, that lost fishing net or broken discarded net or hook will just miraculously disappear or that plastic strap or bottle won’t cause an issue . It’s just one straw , one strap , one net they say to themselves but it’s not just a strap or a net or a hook etc it’s a potential death sentence for the animal that ends up wearing it .The powers that be can no longer turn a blind eye this is now at the stage where actions are critical because if we all don’t start to care more about the Oceans and all those that inhabit them then we will set ourselves up for future without all the animals we love so much they will become stories of long ago that our grandchildren will tell their grandchildren and that has to be the biggest most heartbreaking future scenario that I could ever think of . Thank God for people like this each and everyone of them that care and try to make a difference to how our history unfolds . Man at the top is all to consumed with greed , power, war,wealth and destruction that he loses sight of the innocence that pay the price for his decisions and actions or lack of them .
